Anyone Know what thickness GT strut plates are? and Also what would a good thickness for boxed control arm plates be?

10GA?? I think that 1/8" might be a bit much.

Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure 10 gauge is within thousandths of an inch of 1/8" plate. That's what the strut reinforcement plates are made from, and I used 16 gauge plate as reinforcements for the control arm and trailing arm.

Edit - at one point I had a drawing of the factory strut reinforcement plate. I'll see if I've still got one. I can dimension it and send you a copy if I have one.

Have you got a welder or access to a welder, Neil?

Dam I was getting my numbers with 10GA and 1/16" mixed up...

Really you used 16GA? I'm was looking at the sheet list and we have a bunch of 14GA and 16GA in the scrap pile.

And 10GA for the GT plates. All of the bodies here get done in 14GA so there is a lot of that scrap and the aluminum bodies are all out of 1/8"

Yep, the additional webbing for the control / trailing arms doesn't have to be too beefy.

In looking at these pictures, I might have actually used 18 or 20 gauge plate on the front arms! Stick with 16 gauge if you've got it.
