Yeah, I can't let her go just yet. And, I'm so close already! lol

On the to-do list (some are not entirely stage 0 related but are still maintenence/need to be done related lol)

-coolant flush (dear god! it's enough to make you cringe!)
-new sparkie wires (yes matt, I'll go after the boogie-cords! ;)
-ipd has that handy dandy turbo oil leak fixer kit...may give that a try.
-and yes, timing belt WILL BE DONE at the next oil change...in about another two months...and I'll be acquiring that from the dealership....Ian's scared me too much on that one! ;)

-pv boots (ipd here I come...or fcp whoever has it cheaper)
-brakelines (already acquired)
-ecodes...or regular headlights...I am still unsure....

Thoughts? Things I've forgotten? This is just kind of...more immediate...that's why I don't have new IC hoses etc in there.

List looks good, a nice couple hours to get that done.

I take it you've replaced the rest of the ignition components (rotor, cap, plugs)? Coolant flush is always a good idea, and swap the accessory drive belt as well as the timing belt. Did the verdict come in on the Sea Foam treatment yet (top engine cleaner)? I usually do that as well. Don't forget to check other areas for corrosion on your car (wiring, connectors etc). When was the last time the trans got flushed? PCV components? Vac hoses inspected and swapped (I'm sure Paul would have done this).

Oh, and rince the engine down really well at the car wash before diving in - be nice to your mechanic (or yourself).

Dist cap etc has recently been done as has the spark plugs put her through chinese water torture with matt the other weekend...as far as my list goes just thought - water pump. Any signs when that goes or should i do that while doing the belts too? trans fluid is also very good ;-) Brake fluid was done in the fall (and will likely be done again while replacing brake lines poo!) figure we will at least be moderatly clean slate for next cold snap or winter lol

The aux belt is super easy the change by itself, not a major issue if it doesn't need to be done at the moment but if its cracked then swap it out because it comes off when doing a timing belt anyway. For the water pump, if you pull the timing cover off you can have a clear view of the water pump and you'll be able to tell if its leaking by some nice green (or blue depending on the coolant) stains underneath the pump.

Just thought of this, check before a problem happens kinda thing. Make sure the hose clamps for the power steering suction hose are tight. Don't want that leaking all over your nice clean engine bay and soon to be new aux belt.

hmm...am i blind or just stupid or does fcp not do an aux belt on its own?? grr.

Well, I'll be doing a big fcp order in the next month or so...and possibly a little ipd one as well.

Anyone else need anything let me know. I'll post reminders up before I do the order, in case anyone wants to sneak in. Save everyone some shipping

Ps. Ian- I know timing belt = original volvo or death, but what about for the water pump? FCP has a GMB one for $45, and the Volvo one is $109.

Thoughts?

Might I suggest before you place an order with FCP or IPD we check locally to see what prices we can get here? I recently needed a bunch of bearings and gaskets and found with exchange and shipping it was actually cheaper to get everything locally. If you want to send me a list of exactly what you're ordering I can check prices...

Remember, the Cdn $ sucks right now...not like 6 months ago...

Remember, WP prices are CAD$ and FCP prices are US$. Today's rate looks like $0.79...

Be generous with shipping charges too - they've gone up considerably recently.

23 american last order I did...hmm hmmm hmm...

wow. timing belt is about half price at WP...dealership told me $84, and if I had a manual tension then I'd need a tensioner pully at $125.

sigh
