Yeah, that's right, I took my bone stock 244ti to the drags on the worst 185 tires ever made...just to abuse it like the savage I am.

Boost was 13-15psi with a lazy boost controller that would spike to 21, so the car was tuned to run 21psi and only running 15 really basically. T-cam advanced a bit too far (no power up top), 3" exhaust, 192 degree thermostat (way too warm IMO), nothing done other than that and a stage 0 and cometic HG.

It did a 14.8 on the first trip to the drags ever at 90 and squeaked off a 2.2 60 foot on an open diff with the worst 185 all season tires on there known to man. It trapped 90-91 all night. I'm encouraged that my million mile B21FT had no trouble with any of that and has tons of low end torque and is just a daily beater that I'll feed it some decent tires (needs those anyway as maintenance before my sister drives it), a G80, boost controller that works right (no idea what happened on mine), and possibly a little better cam and see what she will do. I think I can do a 13....the high stall coverter, 4.10 axle and cop car trans cooler and shift kit make the AW really rip along pretty nice in a straight line. This is my first trip to the drags as a driver ever. I went from a 2.6 to a 2.2 60 foot in one night on the worst tires ever....my reaction times were all about .1, though it is a real easy car to launch...auto, t-cam and all.

First run was against Pat in Mad Max. I blew the launch badly , but made a 15.5 at 90 and he did 15.6 only a little slower (I basically caught and passed him by the 1/8th). Later on the car ran a 14.8 against max and really pulled some decent distance from the beginning on...max ran a very respectable 15.3 with similar really bad boost controller issues...and it is quite a sight to see max launched with a 4-puck at 5500rpm (max did a ~2.0 60 foot) and belch some k-jet nastyness out the up-pipe.

Later, we were goofing around a bit. I could really edge him out from a roll power braking the auto, but he'd have me on the launch at lights down the "track." I blew a heater hose on the way home in spectacular fashion and coasted it into the garage where I changed it and was on my way. I replaced it with new, but there was a little nick in the hose and it exploded rather nicely even with the heat on. No doubt that damn hot thermostat while beating the ever loving snot out of the car is no help.

I hate you. My first trip to the drags was in my crappy 242 with B21FT at 10-11 psi, M46, lightly worked 405 head, 3" exhaust, and my best run was a 16.9

How much slower is it gonna get at elevation? Low compression automatic turbo car? What are you guys trapping? Or is it also a traction issue...like the ET could be real slow if the surface is bad of course, but the car might trap fine and still have good power.

Upcoming mods are V-cam straight up (or thereabouts) (or nastier if needed if I deem it too slow), good tires, G80, trans cooler, good boost controller set at 22 all the time, 160 stat and to just let it rip. Spray it if it is still too slow.

The best I ever got in the 242 was with the slipping clutch, 16.1

Track surface is never an issue for slow cars like ours - the 10 second cars complain that there's not enough VHT on the Friday nights, but anything slower than about 13.99 rarely has anything to complain about WRT track prep. I think my trap speed was 83-84 MPH.

Great vid - that's the way to do it. Should be even more fun with the mentioned mods.

I was probably too drive to drunk. Kyle drove it the fastest that run, though we did some 15 flat and 14.9 here and there...didn't get that many runs.
