So I've got this amp, its around 12inches by 10 inches, and I'm wondering were the best place to put it would be in a 2 door 122, the things making this hard are:
I don't want to have it on display
it can't be upside down
it needs good airflow (can't be in a super cramped space)
I would rather have it in the cab (this is just for ease of installation, the trunk would be fine too I guess but wiring everything up would be so much easier if it were in the same spot as all the other stuff.)

Also if you have an idea were to put some front component speakers with 5inch mid drivers and 1 inch tweeters that is not in the door I would appreciate your thoughts on that as well.

For the speakers, if you don't want to put them in the doors you've got only one place left, right? Kick panels.

I'm sure you saw these when you were looking at Craig's car on Saturday: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=953&hilit=stereo+canuck

For the amp... there's not much room to work with. You could take advantage of the firewall in front of the passenger, but your amp sounds a bit big for that. You could build a shelf for it above the passenger's foot (about where the "glovebox" is) and mount it facing up up there. Or if you're not attached to the back seat I can think of a few spots back there.

There is likely room to hang it under the rear deck...if you feel like running wiring that far. I think that's where mine will go if/when I get to it...

+1 for hanging under rear deck, not hard to do, and if you're worried about airflow, you can always mount a little 12v fan to it, you won't hear the fan all the way back there hopefully :)

Hmm under the deck does sound like a good idea, that is were I was going to put it before deciding I wanted it in the cab although all things considered that looks like the best place to put it, I just didn't want to run 0 gauge cable back there because I'm lazy haha.

Ya but its soo heavy and major overkill for anything, plus a 122 is short short short, 4 gauge will work fine for whatever.

Yeah I did end up getting the 4, I grossly underestimated the diameter of the 0, so I got all the stuff and I'm ready to go now so its gonna be going in on the weekend/early next week. Wish me luck, although I might not need it seeing how I was offered a job at soundsaround when I was buying cable.

What the fuck

I applied for a job at soundsurround or whatever they are called, and they only wanted licensed techs installing for them, all sorts of BS with a degree you had to get, you could only get it in Ontario, all sorts of dumb shit.

I dunno, buddy told me I was one of the most knowledgeable people he had ever talked to about stereo installs in vintage autos, and I didn't even think I knew that much. Caught me off guard a bit to be honest, but I had to decline as I am moving back to Vancouver in a month and a half, if only I had this idea at the beginning of the summer.
