When I replaced the brakes on my C70 I was looking for something different. My usual brake pads, Ferodo, are getting harder and harder to find locally. During my research I kept coming across rave reviews for the Akebono brake pads so I decided to give them a try.
The Akebono pads along with new Brembo rotors were installed about 5000 km ago. Performance is very good, cold braking is acceptable but definitly does not have the same "bite" as when the brake temperatures get up to normal. hot stops are very controled with good initial bite, even after 5 hard applications from 80 kph down to 20 kph followed by 5 100-20 kph applications fade is almost undetectable.
Dust on the rims is almost non-existant, if anyone remembers my rims from last year they were BLACK from the stock pads, in the same time period with the Akebono the rims have only a light dusting of grey and it easily wipes off.
Availability is not bad, Workpac lists them but they are not a consistently stocked item by them for the C70 at least (talk to Dale or Athal). FCP also stock these pads
