Welcome to Volvo's
Welcome to our little Volvo Club
Welcome to the wonderful world of Internet forums

First I have to say your car is beautiful, very nice. =D>
Car shows and Volvo meets usually fall into two categories, some are for specific models or vintages, so the Classic British show held in Riley Park or the annual Mopar shows are restricted. But there are many shows and events held every year that are open to any and all cars, modified, classic or stock. With any car at a show but especially a stock one it should be well detailed (clean everywhere).

I usually post local events in this forum and you would be more than welcome to join us. The highlight of my season is the Lethbridge Street Wheelers weekend, a 3 day event where the number of Volvo's increases every year.

Hi Scott,

Welcome to the board!

Are our Volvo meets restricted to classics? Hell no! Our Volvo meets are not even restricted to Volvos.

Welcome aforum Scotty!

Any more pictures of your S60R? What made you go for it in the end and what kind of competition was it up against? Most importantly, what kind of interior do you have?

As for Volvo meets, old, new, rusty, concourse, anything goes... Let's face it, the 'R' is going to be a future classic anyway!

Don't, and I repeat: DON'T buy Hawk street performance pads for your car. I had them (in S60R calipers on my 240) and they were flat out awful. My buddy's got them in his '05 WRX and he hated them for the first few weeks, but has gotten used to them and says they're not bad but not as nice as the OEM. I hear they're terrible in STi's too, being the same basic brake package as the S60R. I think the extra-large rotors of the S60R / STi make the street performance pads unsuitable for the street, unless you drive a LOT harder than I did.

They were also terrible in my car whenever it got moist out, which COULD have been from the lack of backing plates (dust plates, stone shields, rotor warmers, whatever you want to call them) in my 240. Not to mention that they squealed a good chunk of the time...

Keep in mind you've got way more brake than you'll ever know what to do with, unless you track the car. In other words, choose conservative pads if you want my honest opinion. Your big brakes take a bunch of abuse to get them warmed up to the operating temperature of performance pads, and until/unless you do that frequently, their manners and predictability will degrade rapidly until you heat cycle them again. This is definitely the case in my current car (1988 780 with 12.19" Wilwoods in the front, BP-10 pad compound) - they're pretty grippy from cold and progress smoothly to their operating temp if I beat on them hard, but unless I beat on them at least once a month, I can feel their braking power drop gradually, they start to pulse and squeak and pull to one side or the other. Get them hot again and they're back to being sweethearts for another month or so.

PS - Interior is the 'black-blue' color, not sure what they call it, but its gold a dark blue sheen, looks very nice in my mind.

The name of that interior is 'Nordkap'. I'd love to see some pictures of it, if possible; everybody says it's more of a black than a blue, which is a shame. I really love the old blue Volvo interiors, and if the Atacama trim is anything to go by I'm surprised they didn't swing with an actual blue! I've attached a couple of brochures you might be interested in... Wouldn't mind a Flash Green / Atacma V70R myself... then I wake up!

Interesting selection of other cars; Saab is probably the only one I'd look at myself upon first impressions, but I don't know much about any of them never mind having driven any.

If you see the interior in the light then you can really see the blue. I love it, but puke brown does grow on you. I love the seats in an R, I think they are amazing.

PS, Flash green looks like a 60s refrigerator...very disgusting im sorry to say

One of the techs at work here just picked up a 06 s60 t5, essentially the same car but fwd. He's looking at an exhaust, airbox and chip.
Im not sure where he is going to get the exhaust but I think he will be going to ipd for the airbox because it seems to fit best among the reviews. I have another friend with an R and he picked up the eurosport one and we had to modify it to work properly, it was restricting the shifter from going into reverse. The friend with the R also did the softloader ecu re-flash with ipd, its definitely faster but it wasn't that much more of a big kick.
