I might run the 300d for a few races, just to see what it will do.

No bottom-end grunt will get frustrating fairly quickly. Lock it in first gear and rev the snot out of it and you might have some fun...

A friend and I are building a 242 occasionally. Engines done, have to put it in and wire up ms then finish welding the seat harness.

I agree, it really could use a locker. but its quite a solid handling car, its nice and neutral, the rears just love to follow the front.

this of course wont happen until I get an exhaust on it, so If i cant go fast, at least ill make some cool noise. Plus the torque I get from better turdblow spool and a little more boost cant hurt.

More 245 updates after this weekend. hopefully we will see some progress.

would anybody want a blue 240 interior? its free.

We put a 3" exhaust on Dale's 300D and we still had to wait a minute or two for the thing to come to life. It's not turbo lag you're seeing, I'll tell you that much.

Once everything got moving, that car hauled ass, though.

What do those things weigh...4500 lbs? Propane scavenging...think about it.

They weigh right around 4000.

The 3" exhaust helped spool although, as Matt said, it still wasn't a rocket off the line. You won't get a lot more performance by raising the boost because the rack isn't capable of delivering a lot more fuel. We had a situation one summer when we were pulling the tent trailer. The wastegate hose broke so we were running whatever boost the turbo could make. I noticed the car had more power and possibly a little more off the line but it suffered from so much blow-by there was oil coming out of all the seals. So, you can raise the boost and make marginally more power and...if you can convince the rack to deliver more fuel, it will make even more power. The convincing of the rack is the (very) difficult part. While they last a million miles and more, they're pretty fragile when it comes to monkeying. Check out the cost of a replacement before you start messing with it... [-X
