Hi Guys,
I just thought I would just share the weekends efforts on the car front. With the recent turn for the better with the weather - Coburn Performance has been very busy lately. We've had Greg in making my compressor smoke from all the sandblasting he's doing to make the YROG rise from the ashes. Dave came over with his S70 looking for all the world like someone had done a little blasting on it as well. I had to touch up the crack that I put in the side of the paint on the 242 (must secure the argon tank...) before winter hit. Let's see how it all shook out.
First up - Dave's car. We sanded and sanded and did a little more sanding - then we took off the bumper cover and hood (Dave drove it home this way - "honest officer this is the way Volvo made them...clear hoods were in that year"). I gave it a shot of primer on the worst spots, but didn't prime the entire hood. So last night we were here with the S70.

Bumper cover - There appears to be no primer on it - so I didn't prime it.

I managed to get the filler knocked down on the 242 and it got primer as well.
This morning the weather looked good, so I got the base on the 242 by lunch time. By the time Dave got here the weather was still looking good and I just had to lay down the clear and we could get the colour on his car.
Now, his parts are in the garage and I can't get a car in my garage, so you guessed it, I'm painting in the back lane! The sky was a perfect overcast and there was a light breeze. No problem - the base went on perfectly.
I had masked up the car from the belt line on the passenger side (this is where the repair is) with light plastic and masked the rest as normal. By the time Dave and I were admiring the clear, the wind whips up. Now there are 50 KPH gusts coming down the alley with dust, leaves and my plastic going in the fresh clear! Crap. Dave heads home to get some tarps.
We made a little tent using spare 122 rotors as weights on the corners and a mitt full of zip ties. Greg stopped by - he wasn't looking too sure about all this. I plucked the junk out of the paint and get ready for coat 2 and 3 in the gale force winds.
Here's the result - believe it or not - I got away with it! Needs a little buff, but it is OK.

Good use of the ladder.

Here's the finish (I didn't get a picture of it all back together)

Then on to Dave's bumper cover and hood. I only had 2 pints of shootable product - little thin on the volume, but I loaded up the gun and hosed it off.
The hood still needs another coat (we'll have to sand it down and do it again tomorrow) - you can still see many of the rock chips.

I had enough paint for 3 coats on the bumper cover - it looks fine.

That's it for now - what a crazy weekend.
