Thoughts?

Frame spars are good both front and rear. Rear axle is a bit leaky
Glass is mint
There is some rust around the holes for the front overrider bars, the rear apron, some spots in the rockers, floors and sides of body inside the fenders and behind the mudflaps. Overall though, it is in much better shape than my other black one, It runs/drive quite nice, and is plated.

Would you keep it stock or chop it up like the other one?

IMHO these are a very ugly car!!

Okay, that's not too cool, but my point (a small one) is that mods might help...

I'll shut-up now.

My point is chopping up what looks like a pretty nice original car would be bad. They deserve to be restored correctly and enjoyed. Chopping up one that is already messed up and unlikely to be restored is very much a different thing.

this one would be a stocker, it just drives so nice and smooth and feels just excellent, and has some provenance to it (Saskatchewan politics background). I agree with you on the chop it up versus restore it point. Even the interior is minty, all the trim and badging is there, and the body is structurally sound with fairly minimal rust on any visible panel. The most it would get for mods would be some front discs from my amazon parts car. It needs some cleaning up, but it is in very good shape, and is going to be kept in the quonset for a while yet.

And it would make for a much more straightforward restoration, and something that I am beginning to think I am actually capable of.

It would be a shame to cut that car up.

Maybe not everyone's taste but it is a classic bit of styling especially compared to everything else of it's era. Now the 262 Bertone, that's an ugly car. :-&

I'd love to see someone restore this car.

I was sincere in that comment, but it will sound sarcastic after this one: It would be cathartic to watch you spend n dollars on something you would sell for n/2 dollars. Misery loves company.

I figure the total cost for me to restore this car including the purchase price is in the $4500 range, before paint, with no engine or tranny rebuild (Shouldn't be needed with this car, especially when i've got 2 spares) From how leaky the rear axle is, it might need some work there, so that's the big unknown.

But, i'm looking for something to cruise in here, it almost could be a summer DD with how nice it rode and drove. even with the floats on the carbs dry.

well, as a slight update, it looks like a 14x24 garage (There is a nice looking foundation on the one lot ready to go, could be a nice little shop for me over the winter, just gotta price out a package now.
