That's more than I would expect, but if you found one with a proper history, and you didn't pay dealer prices for parts, it shouldn't be that much to maintain. For a DD though? Probably not. That could get scary.

Edit: And how much of that expense is because its a 500E? I can't believe a regular W124 would be that much.

See my second post lower down- I looked up cap, rotor, and coils. They are common across several engines which is good. The v8 has two of each though, $400 just in parts at fcp prices which isn't HORRIBLE I suppose.
