Ok, so I am having some Eikers refinished ( wow, thats a new one). What is the general consensus on leaving well enough alone ?
I have the blackout thing going on my 245, so was considering maybe graphite or gunmetal ??

I am having second thoughts on color change too, the silver thing is growing on me.
Car is blue by the way...just black trim. kinda like my Galaxies, only problem is they dont make decent tires in bigger than 225, other than 245.
17in will give me more options. gonna try for a 245 or 255 under the back.

I have to agree with Matt, black rims seems to be the in thing but I don't get it. Love the blacked out look on the car though, the inlaid chrome trim on 240's is bleh.

I have some graphite colored Virgos on a 244 and I like them a lot. Different than the typical silver, but not so dark that it doesn't stand out and look sharp. Love that second shot from the rear, those tires look nice and meaty.

ETA: You need to replace that rear bumper. I have an ok set of "skinnies" off an 85' US model 244 if you're interested.

I'd agree don't do black. Part of the appeal of the Eikers is the lip, and a black lip just doesn't show that off. On that car gunmetal would look good I reckon, but having a look at those Galaxies silver makes me think the Eikers silver is the way to go.

Those RX7 callipers up front?

Tires are only 225 50 16,about the limit I would put on the 16x7 wheels. The eikers are 7.5 in so hoping for 245 maybe 255 on the back, might have to play with adapters for that.
those Galaxies are on the back with a 32mm adapter and have just enough room
I widened the rear arches about 35mm at the problem area, pretty happy with the way it turned out.
Managed to do it without damaging my 8 yr old tremclad,other than a small crack which I covered up with black...which is why black is a little bit higher now at the rear.

Yes, rx7 calipers and 940 rotors,which don't clear Galaxies, not without some shaving.... and a small spacer....
and longer wheel studs....and some trial and error.

Amazing how now with the spacer and such at the front, I am very susceptible to wheel balance...
The first time I put the wheels on I must have got lucky,as car drove perfectly.
Went and put in my koni's,put the wheels back on,and holy cow wheel shake. Went ahead and started rotating on the wheel studs until it went away.
and yes...I still have a tiny bit of hub centering even with the spacer

Just an aside.... did you weigh those skinnies ?
iirc the plastic less commando's were about 15-16 lbs when I weighed them.

I he doesn't want the skinnies I'm always looking for a set. Even just the guts. You can still buy the plastic for 125 bucks when I checked last week.


Like I said on tbricks, maybe a bit darker grey?

Gunmetal would be a great colour for that car...I painted the above mentioned wheels and probably have a code somewhere if you want me to look it up. Not black - black tires, black wheel wells, black wheels = event horizon...no light escapes and it looks silly. I'm going to throw this out just for fun...why not do the centres in a nice grey, then machine the lips. Never seen it - would be cool.

It's very "go ahead, hit me if you dare" looking I must admit.

Never weighed them, but I was shocked that Volvo would ever have used them in the first place. There is literally nothing for metal behind those covers...



They're here if you guys want them, I pulled them off the parts car I crushed last year as I couldn't see letting them go to waste.

thanks for the pics. I think I am going to leave them silver. May make them easier to get out of if I decide to go a different route.Much as I like to be different, others not so much.
