The J type laycock on the m46s up to the late 80s (when they switched to P-type) are the same as what's on your J type M41. I wouldn't bother spending all that money for a new solenoid. Just go get a half decent used solenoid off an M46 and use it until it fails (if it ever does) and then go get another one. I've been driving J type Laycocks for 25 years in my two 240s and have NEVER had a solenoid fail on me once. They last forever just about so a good used one will last you a long, long time. Not worth the $ getting a new one if ya ask me.

Thanks for the tips Roj...I managed to score a new one on E-Bay the other day - so my solenoid woes should be over. Now if I could only get that V-Performance head and cam sent to me I'd have an outside chance of having the engine and transmission swap done for Streetwheelers in Lethbridge.
