I just got off the phone with my Dad...he's going through some hard times right now, and now his 760 is having some issues. Some of you have seen this car. I drove up to the one cruise in it. She's a beauty '84 760T in that oooo soooo nice mint green.

His speedo is acting a little funny...it will barely register any speed when driving around town, and bobs up and down all wacky, but once he is on the highway, it appears to be reading fine. As well, the tach isn't reading accurately either....also on the low end around town.

Any ideas? Cluster? He's not near me, so I can't take a peak at it right now. He's already been to the mechanics....the same dude that charged him $1200 for two fuel pumps...so I'm trying to help him avoid getting screwed again.
Thanks,
Greg

2 things come immediatly to mind, either the sender in the diff is dirty (they tend to accumilate crud after a while and do not register correctly. Or it could be the wiring harness, 84's used the biodegradable insulation and that caused lots of problems.

Before you condem anything take a look at the brickboard FAQs, lots of good info on this problem

Thanks Ian.
I'll do some reading.
I thought only later 700s/200s had the sender in the diff? When did the cable unit change to the electronic one?

To my knowledge all 700s had electric speedos, it was the 200 series that changed to electric in later years
