I dont need the posi so i'll probably put it up for sale. He said it was in good condition when he pulled it and that it worked fine but he didn't need it so it came to me.
Let me know

Will this diff fit in my 81?I cant remember if it is strong enough,or requires modification to fit the 2 series rears.I really need a limited slip/locker of some sort.

Its a locking rear end for a 7/9 series. Something with the 1041 rear end i do believe

I'm not sure what they are worth, probably 100-150 bucks. Let me know,
if you don't agree then tell me and I can adjust the price accordingly

nice andy!

i got a question for matt or raz or whoever has broken the welds on a welded diff, what happens? would the wheels lock up and send you into a nice spin or would it just crunch the gears?

wheels didnt lock up at all, just broke a few spiders - remember, this is with me driving... normal folks take time to break theirs.

that, i doubt very much, would be any kind of likely scenario... the usually break from strange shock, like 60 km/h rotating speed on ice and one wheel grabs random traction - crack... as will some lockers!

they won't "lock up", just no power will get down the drivetrain to the wheels, you know....if they locked up i wouldn't have been able to tow raz for 2-3 blocks up hill

both wheel's spun fine when individually turning them by hand, when we put it on the hoist, however when we spun the driveshaft, nothing moved

ciao

Mine locked up when my welds broke, but that was more because chunks of weld went everywhere, killing bearings and gears and wiping out the entire diff 'till the whole thing melted into one big lump.

Putting little micky-mouse welds between the spider & side gears pretty much guarantees breakage. Edit - and if you're not lucky enough for it to break like Raz's did, where the car won't move at all, you might not notice and you'll drive it for a while. Even so, you might still have chunks of weld/gear floating around that you don't catch when you clean out the diff.
