I cleaned the throttle body and reattached everything (so I thought) yesterday.
Today, I took it for a drive and when the car idled, the rpms started jumping up and down.
I checked around and found a loose rubber grommet which secures the plastic intake between the MAS and the throttle body. Pushed that in back - which I think stopped it rattling against the engine.
Idle went back to steady smooth.
Is this a common problem? Some small vibration tricks the knock sensors. I read about this on another forum. The guy replaced the knocks sensors with less "sensitive" ones.
