That looks fantastic!

I really need to spend some time improving my terrible ability to do body work. Want to do a 240 next that could use a little more tire clearance front and rear to be able to do full suspension travel and full lock-lock with 225 tires with room to grow to 245ish all around.

I don't know how much surgery that will require, but I think I'll be finding out soon. Not that you asked, but the best way to learn is to either find someone to talk to about it/watch or if you're like me...read lots of books. I'd suggest a few of the sheet metal fabrication books available at eastwoodco.com.

what are your rates craig? I've got a 242 that needs some new rear fender arches and butt cheek surgery (liposuction?).

Well I'm not cheap (to continue the Kat inuendo fun) IIRC your rear arches etc were similar to Greg's in cancer location. No big deal to fix. I probably won't have time for a while - if you had the parts I'm thinking a weekend would do the trick. Removing the butt cheeks can't be hard, but they do serve a function - so we'd have to figure out how to get that area drained of moisture etc.

In no time. Dunno what happened with the camera though. I took more pictures than what it's showing... ](*,)

Anyhow, The engine is ready to pull. Tranny is unhooked. Just need to wait for it to stop raining so I can back the car out while I pick the engine up. Then I get to figure out where to put the engine and transmission. Plan is to completely strip the engine bay, sandblast it and then work on putting it back together. Somewhere in there some welding will happen...

Amazing how dirty it can get when a front main seal sprays oil all over the place... :?

To the tune of "Back in the Saddle Again". Great stuff. Get her out by the end of the month and I'll weld her up at BBQ time. That way you can get it blasted and primed by October!

Well...the sun is shining at the moment so I think I'll go assemble the crane and pull it out. Then I get to figure out where to put it.

Once the engine is out I'll strip the wiring. I suppose I should strip everything else too...steering column, brake lines, master cylinder, clutch master, etc. Should almost go so far as to pull the front subframe since it's been blasted and POR15'd already...

Fun, fun, fun...

Engine is out and has taken up semi-permanent residence in one of the sheds. The transmission is still in the garage as it will get bolted to the next engine going in. I need to be careful pulling the MS wiring as I will need to use most of it again. The rest of the wiring will be replaced.

Stupid front springs...evidence of spring bind on virtually every coil. Even with no engine the front end of the car isn't very high. Putting my weight on it drops it about 2"

Jeepers, 2" with no weight...I've got more mass than you by 50lbs and I can't make my VPD coils compress 1". Now there's motivation to get the front springs done! I'm working on wiring today as well...but at the other end of the project list.

My vote for the post blast coverage is to go with epoxy primer as part of a paint system. I've had some trouble with the POR15 under other paint. The epoxy is better in my estimation.

Yes...it will get epoxy primer. It's cheaper than POR15 and easier to paint over. It's nice and thick too so it will fill lots of nooks and crannies...

I might do the sandblasting in my driveway rather than tow the car all the way to Consolidated. I'll have better control and it really shouldn't take that long to clean up the engine bay...
