So today, we had all hands on deck with Matt and Dale coming down from Calgary and Greg coming up the street to lend a hand. It was so nice to have skilled hands all working on the car. I made up at least 3 full days of work today and owe the guys big time as we went from this:

It took a lot of time to get the K-Jet lines sorted out, but Matt and Dale got it all worked out. The install went in without a scratch. I went out tonight and popped the serial number plate back on the car.

Last night I got the black out done on the windows and B-pillar.

Here's a patented blurry shot for Matt :D here are the Virgo's. Paint will happen this week for sure. I'll get a bunch of body work done tomorrow.

Can we have a secret relationship so that I can use you for your skills?

This thread is amazing, well done!

My comments/questions

Blue - great choice of color
you painted the rear sway bar but not the front one....slacker lol
I was wondering about the header, can you take a picture of the collector area as it sits installed?
Are you planning any brake upgrades?

Love the car, very informative thread as well

needless to say I cannot wait for the day I no longer work in the field and have time to mess around in my garage again

cheers

I'll take the pics of the header tomorrow...pretty sleepy right now. Not going to do the front sway just yet - what am I going to do all summer? No brake upgrades planned on this car at this time. We'll see how it progresses.

Looks sooooo good. Working on this car yesterday was just so rewarding. Seeing everything come together and look so good at the same time was awesome.

Now what you need to do is to make those K-jet injector lines look just like your plug wires, and people would say WTF?

We had a great day!

So my daily update has tailed off a little. Here's where I started today.
I went from this...
Image

To this...
Image

Getting the white paint off was only the start of the fun. I had to strip the clear and base off as well on the hood and trunk. I can't feel my hands or arms from riding the DA sander all day, but here's the finished product. A few hours or detail sanding tomorrow and we're ready for primer!

I even fixed the gaps so the shadow lines down the body will be as straight as I care to make them on this car.

Image

The sun roof presents an interesting problem, as I've got to get it out and the gaskets don't seem to want to come out for the new ones. I'll have to spend some time on this later.

Image

The drivers side was very straight. The only bonus of the previous crap paint job is it sort of served as a guide coat while sanding.

Image

I filled the tops of the fenders...they should look like glass when done. The blue is pretty dark and will show all the little imperfections. I should have gone with a light colour.
