Hey, figured I'd start a build thread and track my progress.
Located in Lethbridge Alberta.

Overall, the car is pretty decent shape.

Plan for the car is to just get it to be a nice clean daily driver cruiser. I wanted a cruising car while I rebuild an engine for my mustang. Once that car is back on the road, then maybe I'll do more heavy modification on this car.

Done so far:
-New taillights (fixed broken lights)
-Headlight bulbs (fixed highbeam issue)
-Acquired and installed rear driver trim
-Air filter replacement
-Acquired and installed license plate lights (not working, wiring needs repair)

To do list:
-Tune up. I know the injectors and lifters are noisy, but seems a bit excessive? Trying to clean the system out, change oil and then progress deeper.
-Replace hatch. Only real rust on the car, have replacement hatch from older 240. Just need to paint and install.
-Rear gate wiring. No wiper, defrost, unlock, license plate lights. Have passenger IPD harness, planning on making drivers side. Doing at same time as hatch replacement.
-Reverse lights. Trans sensor needs replacement, have part.
-Seal headlights. Lens pulls out?
-1 door door not central un/locking
-Dome light and chime. Door sensor.
-Fix heated seats
-Recharge AC
-Timing Belt (have parts)
-Rear hatch panel repair
-Various interior clip replacement
-Polish/paint correction
-Clean/paint parts
-Front lip repair
-Wheels (WTB)
-Cruise control lever. Previous owner replaced lever with cheaper level w/out cruise, have cruise lever hanging to still allow use. Want to replace with correct lever.
-Odometer fix

WTB:
-Summer wheels & tires. Like current wheels, but not in great shape and have winters. Would like another set.
-Cruise control lever
-Hatch shocks
-Odometer gears
-Cool parts?

Welcome to the board. Funny, I just picked up a 245 myself. Not in great shape, but give me a minute. Sorry for taking so long to get you registered - I was having issues with the back-end control.

I guess Matt must have sorted you out. Anyway - there are a few of us on the board from Lethbridge.

Yeah, we should be thinking of renaming the board (he says jokingly) as there are approximately 1 users from Calgary who ever comment.

Welcome to the site, my apologies for taking so long to post. I watched this car on Kijiji the whole time it was up, glad it stayed local with someone willing to put it right. Very nice work so far, looking forward to your progress.

Been very busy at work the last couple months, but found some time to work on the Volvo and continue to strip my mustang parts car.

A few more updates:

- E code headlights, more of a project that I expected... First they came broken from fcpeuro, had a awful experience with shipping and didn't want to send them back for replacements. Repaired them. They also don't work with NA corner lights. Had to make a custom bracket from the corner lights and do significant trimming to the headlights. Also don't use the same bulbs? Had to modify the dust boot to fit with my bulbs/connectors. Still require alignment.
- Amber reflector removal
- Fuel filter - damaged a line, had trim and put barb fitting back in. That was a real treat...
- Flame trap
- Air box - removed heater tube and cut it open for better cold air flow.
- Front brakes - rotor and pads. No more brake vibration.
- Front wheel balance - no more vibration on highway
- Blue lug nuts
- Hella Horns - Doesn't sound like a boat anymore
- Engine bay detail and paint

Stock lights

E-code - tabs don't work with NA corners. Can to trim them off and make my own bracket for corners.

ImageIMG_20190817_160038 by Richard Brown, on Flickr

My custom bracket. A bit roadkill, but used what I had. Worked well.

Brakes:
Bronze is fancy rust paint. :p

ImageIMG_20190819_113244 by Richard Brown, on Flickr

Hellahorn - not so boaty... Well still a boat, but doesn't have a boat horn anymore.

As it sits now! Really happy with how it drives. Would like to improve the starting, it always starts but randomly a little rough? Just going to continue to clean and do preventive maintenance.
Once the mustang is back on the road, then I'd like to do some bigger modifications. Right now this shares daily drive duties with my truck.

Yeah, the US headlights use ... US bulbs. 9004/9007 are garbage that are DOT specified bulbs that are ONLY used in North America, as far as I know. Getting E-code headlights in your car isn't as simple as just buying the lights, as you've discovered: They require so much more.

Car's looking good, though.

That’s looking so much better, kudos on the photos as well. I’ve looked at those e-codes from FCP before and they show the corners and trim pieces included? Also shows the H4 connectors and bulbs as part of the package, was that part of the shipping disaster?

For the rough idle try cleaning the IAC valve. check for codes it could be the coolant temp sensor as well, although that should light the CEL.

Yeah I under estimated the install of lights... Assumed they would be same...

FCP has the kits, but at the time they were selling the headlights separately. I must have got the last set.

It doesn't seem to idle bad. It just cranks longer than normal, and rpms very slowly climb. Then it seems normal again. Seems to do it most often when I drive it to work and it sits in the sun? But not always.

The cranking longer than normal I would check the FPR, the main pump check valve, and the intank pump.

Not much for updates. Have been working on the Mustang - got a large shipment of parts in for it, currently working on some porting/cleanup of the top end.

Anyways, a couple photoshoots of the Volvo I did recently.
