I wish... Was in town yesterday afternoon so stopped by to see what's up. Got the "Hollywood" response. :( Worst part of waiting is holding off on ordering parts, would be nice to have them in transit while they grind away.

My guess is the crank was dropped in with the thrust not being fitted. Mine took a lot of figure-eights on a sheet of sandpaper before the crank would drop in. That might mean the bearings may not be marked as extra width, but are made- sort of like file fit rings- with a little extra. As I write that, I am thinking your crank is standard, so my bearings were definitely undersize, so std bearing might have std thrust. IDK,
Have to wonder here, if the starter would turn over the engine enough to start if I'd used the main bolts to pull the crank in, if someone didn't know any better...?
IDK. Almost crumbling thrust material happens how?
Block might have been honed *because* of prior issues. ("gotta clean up that ugly discolouration on that main saddle")

Just got a call from the machine shop. The crank is good to go as they have found an O/S thrust bearing at $129 and rod bearings for $60. I asked about the block which seemed to be a surprise question? They're going to get on it next...

Machine shop has passed the block and crank so we're good to go. As things were going so well I decided to F'up the show. I had tossed a bunch of parts in to the cleaning bin filled with ZEP's purple power. I knew in advance that it was for steel only, no alloy material, you know where this is going... So not thinking, just wanting to get stuff soaking over the weekend while I was gone in everything went. Long story short, I just destroyed $500 worth of pistons.  Thanks to Matt I have a replacement set coming from Calgary this weekend so the machine shop can assemble and balance the rotating assembly after giving the block a light hone. An expensive lesson for sure, worst part is I knew better just not thinking at the worst possible time...

Parts orders have been placed with KG Trimning, Tinus Tuning and iPd. KG is checking on a few items but should have everything other than the KG17 cam which is estimated to be available again in a month. Not wanting to hold up the show I contacted Ben at Tinus about a TT4. A bunch of odds and ends from iPd and I should be close.

Major thanks to Craig for bead blasting my iPd valve cover. It's going in the box of other stuff for the powdercoater's later this week. Also got the Timing cover polishing for Dummies instructions while I was there, it's on the list, going to try and make this happen...

ETA: Pistons and single groove crank pulley arrived in the mail, major thanks to Matt for supplying same and getting it shipped sooper fast, much appreciated. =D> So all of the above was dropped off at the machine shop so they can get on the balancing act.

Called KGT this morning and paid for my order so it will ship out tomorrow morning. Got confirmation that my iPd order has shipped and will be in Sweet Grass on Thursday. My only frustration is no reply to my email to Ben at Tinus on the TT4 camshaft. He has a note on his site that he is moving shops on March 1 so communication may be slower than usual. Not a big deal yet, as long as he responds soonish and has a cam in stock for shipping sooner than later.

Be patient - you won't need this stuff for a few weeks. Ben's super fast normally and a great guy to deal with. Tell the machine shop to clean the paint off the block for you while they're at it.

Still no response from Ben at Tinus, maybe I emailed RSI by mistake...?

Took a bit but I gave the machine shop the specs for the head today based on Ben's recommendation. Also ordered new Bronze valve guides and a Sachs clutch kit based on Craig's comments in David's thread. My clutch is a BB and is ok for re-use, but I would like to start out new and with the most holding power I can reasonably get.
