Hi: Long time Volvo fan here. I caught the bug from my Dad. He passed away recently and he was driving a truly amazing 1985 740GLE that he owned since it was new. I'm hoping to find a good home for it. I'll try to figure out how to tell his story and post some pics ASAP :)

Hey there, I've just joined up yesterday. Volvo bug got me about a year ago. I've since had a 1990 244, 1988 740 Turbo and now am rocking a 1993 945 Turbo. Haven't check if she's a squirter yet. 238k G80 locker, 13c, Third row seats.

Hi, just making a hello post before my account self desructs. I come from the land down under, SE Queensland, Australia. I'm a 140/164 guy, although I wouldn't say no to a 242. I'm mostly diy, port my own heads, make my own headers, exhaust, adapt other pistons and rods, mostly due to necessity being 1: the au$ being worthless and me being an apprentice having no $ when I started out driving Volvo's back in the late '80's.

So, Hi, my name is Paul and I like Volvos!

Well here is my "hello".
Thanks for letting me join.
I am retired and living in Lethbridge.
I have a 1986 740 GLE wagon. Pretty decent shape.
I am just now dealing with some ignition issues and ordered some parts, but might need some help if that doesn't solve the problem.
Thanks
Peter

Hello Volvo forum!

Posting here to prove I am a person :D

I live in Calgary, I'm in my 30's, married with two kids, and I've always had a soft spot for Volvo's. My dad basically raised me and he had an 82 240GL wagon for much of my childhood. Lot's of good memories growing up with that car.

I've recently acquired my first Volvo! It's a 1962 122s. I bought it a little over a month ago from a guy in Nanaimo and trailered it home. My aunt has a 65 and I've always wanted one since getting to drive hers when I was younger. The previous owner of welded in all new floors, outriggers and fenders so it's totally rust free which is a huge bonus. Lot's of minutia needs attention but nothing major it would seem. I'm really looking forward to connecting with the few other 122 owners here in town and gaining some knowledge!

I'll try to toss up some pictures and more info on my 122 tomorrow.

Regards,

Dustin.

Hi all, I just joined this board because of a recent Volvo purchase.

A bit about me...
I've just picked up my latest volvo, the first in 13 years, having owned a 145s, 242dl, 245dl, and 745gle. The latest is a 1978 242GT (the one that was for sale in 'Penticton' on Craigslist)

I also sold Volvos new in the mid 80s in Winnipeg.

My immediate interest in the forum is looking for someone who might be interested in trading the IPD lowering springs in this car for someting more along the lines of overload springs as the immediate use of the GT will be in navigational rallying.

Welcome!

I know where there is a set of 240 rear overload springs. I doubt trade will be of interest but I suspect they would sell for very little. I can also get new heavy duty front springs (14.5mm wire diameter) new through a parts wholesaler. I can also get new rear wagon springs which are thicker wire diameter than coupe/sedan springs.
