I went searching and found a restoration company in California that does carry the cast aluminum valve cover but it's a little over $200. It's URL is
http://www.classicvolvorestoration.com/ ... t_id=41631They carry a lot of other interesting parts also to restore a PV544 and have PDF downloads for instructions for restoring. It's owned by an airline pilot.
Another place I found that carries an amazing amount of parts is
http://www.thepartsbin.com/catalog/part ... vtype=link. Some parts they don't have listed but I found them anyway (ie: brake wheel cylinders by going to "Search by auto part name" and there they were.)
Still not too sure about a windshield tho for 544. This company carries a couple but whether they will ship up here I'm not certain.
On a totally dissimilar note I had some elecrtical work done on my 740 diesel and the fellow even pulled out the restrictive cone in the air inlet to the air filter and then drilled about 4 2"holes in the air filter box also. Did it ever make a difference, not hot rod but you can sure notice it in the performance and quicker revs. it will even continue to accelerate up our back hill. I used to have to rev to 4500 in second and even then it would start to slow down after shifting. No more, it continues to accelerate now, not great but still better and gas mileage has improved also. Neat. I want to try taking the resonator off the back now (muffler already gone) and see if that helps a little more.
