Hi Pylon, I've had quite a few opinions on the engine in the 740 diesel and even found a manual on the net which says it's an Audi diesel and the VW dealer down here says it is also including their Audi specialist. It does share some VW parts like the oil sending unit I just put in it out of an older VW but even there the threads on mine were straight while the VW's were tapered like pipe thread but it looked the same and works. No more oil leak now so all environmentalists (including myself) can breathe a sigh of relief. It kept getting worse til I was losing a litre between fill ups before I found the oil sending unit

Hey Volvord, thanks for the invite, pizza sounds good. Maybe I'll see you next year at the 'Bridge. I believe my son has been heckling you. He met you at the run in Lethbridge. He drives a 90 NIssan Sylvia, silver with carbon fibre hood and trunk. Runs the quarter in 13.5 seconds. Waiting til his big turbo is rebuilt so he can really go. Not impressed with V8's. He wants to build a monster turbo B21 to stick in my 740 or the 544. He says he's been on the forum giving you a hard time about your Volvord. If you want, I can give him one upside the head for you. lol.

Vw block heater will work from 1977-1998 (Immersion type)
Do not use an oil pan heater on a metal oil pan.

No worry, don't have to slap you son unless he is not eating his vegatables =D>
I arreciate all cars and/or engines, regardless of cylinders, displacement and modifications, to me it is the creation and attention to detail.
I didn't build my car to please anyone but myself, I like it and that is all that matters.
Looking forward to meeting you so we can talk cars

Hey Paul, (Bert and Jack's) why can't you use an oil pan heater on a metal pan, they're just a plate that glue's on don't they? Thought it would be specially good for the diesel as they have a hard time pushing oil to the number 5 and especially number 6 cylinders when cold. Thought warm oil off the bat would be best. A block heater won't warm the oil until it's pumped up into the block. What r your ideas?
By the way Bert and Jack's is a well known name to me as my dad worked for Art Bull's Volvo dealer down here in the Hat from 53 to 77 and your shop was mentioned often.
