New to forum, was looking for help & info. I take a project on each winter to keep busy & mobile, this one is beyond me. As header states it is a 95 960, body has no noticeable rust, bought it as non runner but it wasn't the starter (as PO indicated) the ruddy engine is seized, at least half of it is, LOL, I was barely able to move flywheel end for 1/2 rev, fr. end -not at all. So much for my Volvo education- so it is all for sale, I don't really want to part it-prefer to sell whole car. Leather inside is good to v.good, has slider, I know at least drivers seat power works and driver window, could test others if there is interest. Has couple of Rikken and a set of Continental runflat in 205-55-16. Rims are good. Body is straight, couple small wrinkles here and there, sub-frames are solid. Treat as rolling chassis would have to be towed or trailered. PO had insurance on it and ran it up till month & half ago. I have 1 ton if you got trailer. Can take pics of any or all if interested. I've got $500 into it, so what ever pennies on dollar I get allows me to start another "project". Jack @ 403-742-5072, or PM me.

Welcome to the forum Jack. I presume this is the car on Kijiji in Stettler? I'd like a better idea of what you mean by "wrinkles". Can you post some pictures?

Did you check the timing belt? These are interference engines so if the belt breaks valves kiss pistons and things stop going 'round and 'round. That is the notable weak point in those engines. They are wonderful engines when they're running and the 960 is really a nice driving car if you can get over the way the transmission works. Craig needs another project and has a couple of 5 cylinder engines that would fit nicely. I'm sure he'll chime in... :D

Looks like I'm making headway as you didn't refer him on to me.

Oh, welcome Jack, too bad about the engine woes.

Thanks for the tip on cam interference, but- I think the problem is beyond that. As I indicated I can rotate flywheel end 1/2 rev, but the harmonic doesn't move. Tried turning nut at harmonic but couldn't budge it even with 3' snipe and using my legs on breaker bar. I'm thinking I have racing dual crankshafts now.

Dual Racing Crankshafts, haha!

Too bad about the timing, there was an S80 T6 at PNP not too long ago. It's probably gone now, but you never know.

I checked the timing belt today, as I suspected it is OK and intact- shame that might have been a little easier. I'm not going to take on a major engine job, so anyone who wants or needs a good body should not let $ hold you back. I have been informed there is a limit to how long this "project" can stay around w/o progress. Her idea is either Kidney or Diabetes Foundation. This body is too good to go to crusher. I took some pics but can't figure out how to post here.

Please close this thread, the 960 went to Volvo heaven yesterday, as much as I hated to see it. Thank you all for your input, it was helpful.
