So...to dredge up an old thread...
This car has been sitting in a friend's parking pad for the last year. Yesterday we were over there checking out their garage sale. Just for giggles, I grabbed the keys to see if it would fire up. Lo and behold, it fired up! No boost, nothing. Turned the key. Cranked for about 10 seconds and vroom. Well...it wasn't exactly vroom, but it ran. It's in bad need of the thorough tuneup but I doubt it'll ever get one as all I really want from that car is the engine, tranny and tranny tunnel.
But...in looking over the car, there are some things that amazed me, for a 35-year old car. The dash is not cracked

. The door panels are perfect. The seats are actually in very nice shape as are the carpets. It's also got the console below the dash with a clock. I don't know if those were stock or an add-on. It's too bad the body is rusted beyond repair

.
Anyhow, if anyone knows of someone in need of some very nice interior parts from a '72 144, they'll be available later in the summer when I get this car over to my place and start stripping it.
The engine will be pulled and completely rebuilt and will find its way into the 122...possibly this coming winter. Time to use the crank, rods and pistons from the B21FT sitting in my garage and one of the 3 B20 big-bore head gaskets in my garage.

This incarnation will run naturally aspirated with some good compression. The B20E that's in the car now will get the same 125thou overbore but will be built for forced induction...
