I respect anyone's opinion but for your first post I would really consider keeping to your topic. I find your comment "say no to drugs dude!" very insulting and it probably is not the best way to get cooperation from any member in finding the parts you are looking for.

Apology accepted and no harm done.
I know everyone has their own preferences, I have had many 4 cylinder cars which I modified the crap out of, it was time to do something different, hence the V8 which I would do it again without hesitation.

Enough of this discussion, back to trying to get your 544 parts, good luck

Olaf's got everything you need.

Datsman, I'm from the Hat originally, and know where most of the Volvo's are in town there. Mind telling me your Dad's name? Just trying to make a connection, as I'm wondering if I may have met you or your Dad at some point.

I'm still pissed I got rid of my 544. Gonna have to get another one someday.

Good luck with the build man, get that thing back on the road for Pops!

The more I think about this, the more I come up with a couple of sticky issues. First off, you can find various body parts for the PV but some parts like fenders are either lots of money ($700 each) or just not available. Litterally everything else is available from the rubber grommets to the interior in a perfect reproduction (same factory makes the reproductions as made the originals). So things like the interior are relatively cheap and readily available from VIP (they source from Sweden).

My concern was mostly that we didn't take the time to ask for more details - this is the effect of begining your post by pissing everyone off by making comments about Ian's car.

So, if you really want to get this done for your Dad - we have to ask for some evaluation of the current state of the car. Is it a basket case? Sounds like your brother made a bit of a mess repairing something...how much repair needs doing. In other words, is this a long-term project to get it right, or a quick and dirty to get her going?

What is your level of competance in fabrication/general mechanics etc? If this is a first time thing, then don't set a time line unless you'd like to be depressed by the sound of them smashing as you drift by them. As Paul indicated, unless your a DIY sort of guy, then you'd better have some deep pockets.

We've already posted the link to Olof and the VIP world for panels. Come on, $180 for a complete new floor! Rockers for $50, trunk for $60. You've got Ft McMoney time don't you? You couldn't make me fab the parts for this car they are so cheap.

those parts are all good and well, i'm referring to the fenders front and rear i need to find to mold out of fiberglass, we'll see if i can straighten mine up enough to be used as a good mold. i've got a good hood, and decent nose-section. we'll see how things go after this summer. fort mcmoney money has gone so far as to school and making the 760 a reliable DD. the PV is in engine mockup right now.

Ya, the cost of the fenders at $700 is a little steep. Why not fix the set you have. If you're just making moulds from them it doesn't matter if it's mostly bondo, you just have to get the fiberglass positive to release.

Silicone lube is an excellent release agent. Just use LOTS

it's mostly making sure they're the right shape/contour as they've been HEAVILY filled already... although, we'll see, i'll get them bolted on, bondo'ed all up, fill in with PU foam and bondo and mold... and then make a good flip-front clip, then mock up my suspension, and have to cut/modify them to take the increase in track width... it's all a ways away. i'm more concerned about getting the engine hanging in there right now.
