Hey Volvo folks. Thanks to Athal for turning me on to this place. Where was everyone in 1996 when I had my Volvo?

My father passed away earlier this year and we are trying to find homes for some of the Volvo hoard - a lot of it got turfed a few years ago (the man has owned Volvos continuously since 1968!), but there is some stuff left in his garage that could have some life in it.

He had a 1984 242 Turbo that ruptured a fuel line on Highway 2 not long after he bought it (probably in 1994?) and we parted it out. Somewhere I have pictures of me and a friend cutting the body up with an acetylene torch and we later tossed it bit by bit in the town's metal recycling bin  The fire didn't do much damage, but it ignited the foam hood liner, which fell on the engine and burnt all the rubber bits. So that's the wiring, fuel lines, etc. So we have the engine with turbo, Jetronic ECU, manual transmission (4 spd + O/D), rear end and power steering rack. There's also a whole assortment of interior parts - two sets of dash gauges, the 84 instrument cluster, a clock and outside temp gauge from a 1990 245 we had, and various random tins of nuts and bolts and screws and such from the 1984.

Pictures of some of the parts are here:

He also had quite a stash of factory Volvo manuals - here's what we have:
TP 31579/1 - Fault tracing, repair, maintenance - Front suspension & steering, 200 series 1975-19.. (Updated January 1990)
TP 31486/1 - Repairs and maintenance - Lighting, instrumentation and other electrical equipment, 200 series 1975-19.. (April 1990)
TP 31465/1 - Service Manual - Battery, Alternator, Starter, 200/700 series 1975-19.. (January 1990)
TP 11485/4 - Repairs and maintenance - Brakes, 200 series 1975-19.. (July 1989)
TP 31361/1 - Service Manual - LH Jetronic 2.4 Fuel system, Engine B 230 F, 240 series 1989-19..
TP 12043/4 - Construction and Function, CI Fuel Injection system, 240/260 1976 -
TP 30440/3 - Service Manual, Clutch, Propellor shaft, 240/260 1975- (April 1989)
TP 30869/1 - Service Manual, Engine B 230 F, 240, 1985-19.. (Aug 1989)
TP 31079/1 - Service Manual, Fault Tracing, EZ 116K Ignition System, B230 F 240 series (10/1988)
TP 30454/1 - Repairs and Maintenance, CI System, B19, B21, B23, 240 1975-
TP 31558/1 - Repairs and Maintenance, Wiring Diagrams 240 1990 (Oct 1989)
TP 30678/1 - Wiring Diagrams 1984, DL, GL, GLE, Turbo, Diesel
TP 30057/1 - Wiring Diagrams 1980 models (DL, GL, GT, CLE, Coupe)
And most of a 1975 Volvo 240 complete service manual (from section 5-27 onwards.

My mom is open to offers on this stuff, as she'd like it out of her garage, but would also like to get some $$$ for it. The engine and that is located in Cochrane, so if anyone wants to take a look, we'd have to set that up.

Cheers,
Keith Adams

Houston - tranny is yours. I replied to your PM. I read my PM's first, and Houston's was the only one! Sorry to the rest.

The only guess I have to mileage on the engine is what the odometer on the cluster says that I removed from the car - 185K km. Sorry I don't know much more than that, but we pulled it from the car in 1994 so it's all a bit fuzzy by now.

Where you at James? I don't have a problem shipping, although I don't know if I have the temp sender in the pile, do you need it as well? I can have a look for what's there.

As I said, all this stuff is at my mother's house in Cochrane, and she's on holidays until the 27th, so it will take me a while to get to any questions! Just leave me a PM, and I'll get back to you!

Cheers!
Keith

Hey Keith, nice of you to drop in on us! Maybe it's time you got another Volvo....;-)

Matt (ugly duck) was a vdub guy for a while too, so I'm sure you guys would have alot to chat about.

I have combed high and low for tranny's and my rally is coming up, so time is a huge factor here. Waiting at the pic and pull for one in good shape is killing my nerves, and the wreckers want way too much. If you do a cost benefit analysis....it allows my stress to be decreased by a factor of a million units!
