Thinking about it....I want it and I would gladly pay them 400 for it.

Is it in calgary or what?

I've decided that I need something reliable for a DD and this would be too easy to fix to make it so.

If I read this thread properly, the car's in Medicine Hat with a blown head gasket and possibly a warped head, needs at least a heater hose, and the turbo is on it's last legs.

Andy, I will warn you now: This car is one of the VERY few that I would work towards keeping 100% dead stock. It's such a nice, anti-sporty, luxo-cruiser, and it's about as grandpa as they come. I'd work a wardrobe around it! Tweed hats, elbow patches, etc... I can see it now. Anyway, if you start cutting this car apart and/or turning it into a race car, I will rain fire down on your ass.

Or not. I'll think about it, though.

Back in the early and mid '80s, North Americans had no idea how to maintain or treat their turbo cars, nor were they provided with oil that was up to the task. Even the watercooled turbos in the 2.2 Dodges (same turbo that was used reliably in mid-late '80s 700 series cars) were puking their guts out regularly in the early '80s. Turbos that somehow made it through that time period have still suffered more wear & tear than what your S70s turbo will ever see, most likely.

DD...reliable....andy can't touch it. I want to make that engine a work of wonder with the 16v head I have but I wont.

I think value village is in order for a wardrobe.
I could pick up the car this weekend if I can buy it.

My Dad has found someone in Medicine Hat who is interested. Car may be gone later today. If anyone wants it, decide quick.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.......the car is gone. Andy, really sorry dude...I hope you're not too disappointed. You're just a couple hours too late. It was a rush job for my Dad....I couldn't convince him to wait to hear if anyone here wanted it. He needed it gone, as they're on the road tomorrow. Indeed, this was a sweet car....like Matt said, something worth working your wardrobe around! But yeah, a guy in the Hat took it. Ex-Volvo mechanic. Wants to fix it and re-sell it in Calgary. Thanks everyone for their interest.

Worst part is, my parents bought a new Corolla.....

CRAP!!! Sorry, Andy - I really should have just jumped on this as soon as I saw it. In fact, I actually said that I'll take it, but just before I hit submit I went back and deleted it, fearing a divorce or execution in case I didn't want to let it go later.

So green!

Yeah....and I didn't jump on it 'cause Lenny at Valentine was supposed to sell me a 940 wagon with a blown engine. Now he decided to keep it for himself... :butthead:

ooch, I would hate to do that drive in a corolla...those cars are waaay too light!

that being said, I do respect corollas, i learned how to drive on one, and its STILL THE SAME CLUTCH!!! (no I was not gentle when I was learning dammit...and my mom + clutch = badness....so she drove that car too...so I respect them. Doesn't mean they're a car I liked doing highway on.
