Hey Everyone,

I'll probably be wanting to sell my '81 240 GL and my cache of spare parts for it if I buy this '94 940T I'm looking at.

It's a real good car with about 260,000 kms on it. It needs a new clutch but I already have the parts for it.

The car has a sportied up modified suspension (IPD lowering springs, Turbo sways w/ poly bushings. There is virtually zero body roll so it handles like it's on rails. Very stiff ride though.

Has B23E engine, adjustable cam, K&N Air Filter.

Car was painted about 3 or 4 years ago but has a few minor rust issues. Overall body is quite good. Am thinking it might be worth about $1000.

Would anybody in the group be interested in that car ?

Roj

I have two sets of Virgos with this car. I will probably take the almost new Fuzion Hri's all-seasons that I use for summer tires and the Dunlop Wintersport M2s off the virgos and keep them to use on the 940. I'll then take the Toyo all seasons off the 940 (they're 40 -50 % worn) and put them on one of the sets of virgos and sell them with the 240 and either sell the other set of Virgos separately or offer them as an "option" with the 240.

If you like a nimble sporty handling car then this one is one you'll like. You get at best 1/2" of travel on the springs when you jump hard off the bumpers so it corners very flat and gives you great road feel. Rides rough though, especially when it's cold enough to make your tires stiffen up.

The engine's got a fair amount of pep for a NA 240 but not like a Turbo by any stretch of the imagination. Low end is not spectacular at all but that's to be expected with the gearing and the K-cam. The adjustable cam gear helps a bit with moving the power band towards the low end but not a huge amount. On the other hand, the car has pretty good passing power and cruises well enough on the highway to have get me from Calgary to Salmon Arm in about 5.5 hours which it has done many times.

I still have the car but I'm just going to sell it to my girlfriend. It'll be a good (cheap) car for her and won't cost her hardly anything for repairs since I can do most of them and have lots of spare parts for it already. I'll also be able to drive it almost anytime I want... :supz:

Gotta keep those Volvos in the family...

Roj, need an exhaust system for the GL?
I have a complete exhaust in excellent shape for a non-turbo 240. Come and pick it up and you can have it, no charge.

Sold ! :supz: Thanks, man !

It just so happens that the old system is seeing it's last days. Getting very noisy (crack in the down pipe). It broke in half last week and I had it welded back together sans the middle resonator. Not such a great idea. Bad resonance around 4000 rpm. So that's what a resonator does !

I'll give you a call to set up a time,

Roj
