I got this motor from work. It came in with a broken timing belt. A bunch of valves are bent. The head is off right now.

Its a 4cyl, 179-ish hp motor. I've got the complete thing, minus the exhaust manifold/turbo.

This thing is retardedly light, I can pick it up by myself. The valves were pulled, the guides look good. Crazy aftermarket company replaced the entire motor instead of just the valves.

Had 29K km on it. Yes 29000. Throw some R-Sport rods in it, and you'll be set.

600 bucks and I can get you the valves at cost. Or 1100 bucks and I'll rebuild the head and have it to you.

I'd be open for trades

16V head and associated junk
MS+S
T5 junk possibly
Adjustable pan hard rod (240)
adjustable torque rods (240)

Anything else that might be interesting for a 240.

I've also got a snap-on scope kicking around that will never get used here.

I don't know the part number or anything (its buried in the garage). Its large, doesn't have the car unfortunately. But all the wiring is there, it was working when I put it in there. Even comes with the manual.

If you're interested, let me know and I'll get the part number etc.

What tranny can you use with that?

I"m not sure what tranny. I was always under the impression that it was the same as every other white block.

This is the 01-04.5 engine. Not the 04.5-on engine found in the new P1's.

So it is the older Gen engine, which I always assumed was the same between the 4/5/6 cyl engines.

I've been looking at timing belts on those 4 cyl motors and there is no way in hell that any of them will last to 160k interval.

I know, its crazy. Apparently they have come out with a "new" belt. They seem to be lasting longer, but I agree, they won't make it up there.

Only 29,000 Km on it and the timing belt broke ?!! WTF ?!! That's crazy !

What's the suggested maintenance interval on those things ?

Wish I had the money and the know-how. That might be a cool engine to put in an 1800.... (except for the fact that you have to replace the timing belts every 25K !)

The belt could have just dried completely out of got soaked with oil, or just a bad belt. Im kinda of surprised they didn't try to fight it. We get some customers who fight them and end up getting it warrantied.

The customer had extended warrenty from some company in Quebec. They got a "new" used engine with only 19K on it.

Once the belts were changed they seem to be fine. We only have problems with original belts, and only in some years. Some seem to be ok and others go quickly.

I don't know what the interval is off the top of my head.

I was hoping someone would pick this motor up and drop in a classic. Its a tiny light motor with quite a bit of pep. I'd build up my T5 if I were to drop it in my 242, instead of this 4.

Don't worry, I'm tempted. After all the hastle of putting together the B20 I've pondered the whiteblock 4 for this car. I'm planning on running a 5 cyl in the wagon. Unfortunately, I'm very stubborn and will get this old iron push rod thing stuffed into the 122.

Have you tried on TBrix?

Hey Greg, this could be a cool engine for the YROG.

T-belt intervals are 160k on those.

It would be. I've thought of it, but by the time I've put all the effort of installing a whiteblock into that car, I'd rather have the 5 cyl. instead.

Yeah...that engine would be nice in a 122. I think I'll stick to the current plan though as I have most of the bits and pieces I need...

I was gonna try T-Brix, but I was hoping to sell it within Canada. And Calgary is a pretty easy drive to make, and worthwhile.

I'll probably hold onto it for a while. Fix it, maybe then I'll put it up on T-brix.

Who knows

But its sitting there!
