Oh man....

I'm sad to see this car go Athal, but I completely understand your reasons for doing it.

Good luck with the sale. If the time comes to part it out, there will be a few things I'd like, namely the LSD, panhard and torque rods. I'd REALLY like that engine in the YROG, but doubt I could swing it right now. Oh man, that would be sick if I could.

Keep us posted.

BUMP.

If I can't sell most of this stuff to you guys, I'm not going to bother parting it out. I may just find a decent '86+ 244 to swap it all into and then use that as my winter driver or sell it complete.

So, let me know if you want parts, reply in the thread so I don't have to sort through pms please!

I'll likely take the diff. Just need to consult with significant other.

Will post here shortly about anything else. That engine is sounding more tempting, considering I just found out I have 40% leakdown on cyl. #2 in YROG.

I'll look again Matt, I do remember but it seemed like to nice of a candidate perhaps, and I was hoping to score a broken car for under a grand kinda thing. A wagon might be alot better option, even if it cost more, it would sell for alot more later.

Keep in touch Greg. The engine is the main reason I'm thinking of swapping since there's almost no chance of me selling it alone.

Will do Athal. I probably won't be talking to Laura tonight about the diff, but hopefully by tomorrow night I'll have an answer on that. I take it if you can't sell the engine, you won't be parting the rest of the car then?

Hah! Yeah, I don't know exactly what's wrong at this point, but I'm hoping to pull the head sometime next week. The oil was pretty much pure gas...

Consider my leakdown tester as an "estimate"... I sure don't trust it to do Anything more than compare one cylinder to another and point out where the air is leaking out. Craigs will tell the true tale. The engine is still worse off than your B20, though!

The engine sounds like a very good idea if you can't find a donor car. We saw a ton of clean 240's in Portland. Greg - leak down any time.

It's not that I won't part the car out, but I sure ain't sending the motor to the wreckers, so it would take up a corner in my garage and sit, and sit, and sit...not the ideal situation, which is why I'm thinking finding a clean donor might be the better option if I can't sell it.

Right, so someone talk to me about the 3.54 gearing. The whole goal for the YROG is to build a car that haul's ass on the highway and track. I'm not interested in drag racing, but I certainly don't want a dog at slower speeds either. I just don't care much about performance off the line. Currently with the M46, first and second are too short anyway, so the taller gearing would be better. But then you hit third and the gap seems huge, so taller gearing would be worse there. What's your experience Athal?

Also to consider in this equation is that the M46 will be ditched at some point down the road.

Besides that concern, would I be swapping the whole axle, or just the LSD?

Laura says good to go....as long as this is a "smart decision," ie. I don't want to be doing this twice.
