anyone got a spare motor and tranny taking up room in their garage? must be running, i don't care how well. must fit in a 240. n/a, turbo, 16v, pushrod, i don't care.
If it ain't free (ie. me helping clean out your garage!) I'll have to pass, not sure it's worth what i'm doing even at that price!
Trying to take advantage of the retire-your-ride program and maybe get $300 for my old 242 instead of having to pay to get it towed away.

sounds like A LOT of work for 300 dollars.

I can get it towed away for 50 bucks.

I know Raz, here's my "logic", though might not make sense.

It's going to cost me anywhere from $0 to +$50 to have the hulk towed away without an engine and tranny.

Since I'm already pulling the engine and tranny, if I had another ready to go in, it would likely only be another afternoon of work to get it running (not even road worthy necessarily). Seems that would be worth $300 no?

Did you keep the registration current on this car? I was wondering because isn't it a requirement that it be registered in the 6 months prior to being scrapped? I know for you guys it's not much to swap this stuff over, but still seems like allot of work for $300. If it was a cash payout maybe but it's only a credit towards another car purchase no?

yes it was registered up until may, and they cut you a cheque for $300, so long as it's in running condition.

Thanks for the info and the link, I might have been thinking of something else? The info might come in handy shortly... although I hope not. :)
