Is the OD actually fscked? Like cone clutch wasted? Or just doesn't go into OD? Piston seals ever been done? Fluid level ever been topped? Solenoid pass fluid/air through it when jumped?
Cone clutch failures happen, but they aren't that common. When they get to be super high mile the bores for the pistons egg out and they pretty much eat piston seals no matter what you do. This is like 300+K mile cars that are real beat down on the west coast USA and miled and miled. IPD sells the volvo update pistons I think too. If you powershift a J-type OD into OD in boost and shim the pressure up a bit it blows the seals clear off.
