One of you Lethbridge types should take a look and see if this is as good as it looks...

(Commence freakout....)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

F*$K S&*T A@@ C^#% F@@K.

(End freakout...)

In all seriousness, Laura thought I was having some sort of serious crisis.
Not even a couple of weeks ago I was looking at a 245 on Turbobricks that exact same colour, and had to show Laura as I just wanted it soooooo bad. Seriously bad. And now here it is, in my back yard, for cheap money. Laura's response: "will that cure your fear and depression?" Yep, that's my girl.

Two points I'd like to bring up:
1. It has the ultra rare middle vent panel without the clock. I've only ever seen one photo of another 240 that lacked the clock there, and that was in the UK. I've been wanting one for the YROG ever since. Very cool
2. Is that actually a '76? I always thought the 140 style steering wheel and door panels only came on the '75. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Ugh. I'm done.

Edit: it does have the reverse lockout on the gear stick, which would indicate an M45 or 46, so it couldn't be a '75....

My '77 had no middle clock, but it didn't have much else either (including buttcheeks). It even lacked the "deluxe" heater that mostof y'alls probably think is standard. Stuh-ripper.

Edit - that's a 1 year only colour. It's a '76. I repainted a 244 that colour once.

Anyway, i've got no other comment on the interior, other than the different glovebox lid.

That's awesome... :tonqe: Someone should snap it up pronto!

Only thing I noticed, has the speedo been replaced with a mph type at some point?

Ah, that's right... I think these cars had a kph / mph speedo too, unusual to the later Canadian-spec cars. Greg, what's your '75 got?

My '73 had that speedo but I'm pretty sure the '75 had a km/h speedo. Looks like some current Alberta plates on it but the doesn't necessarily mean an OOP is not required....

Almost worth picking it up for Beth to drive while her car is off the road...

edit...the front and back plates match. How long has it been since we got front plates?

My original speedo was mph only. My current speedo, which I believe came out of another '75, is km/h in white big lettering on the outside, with mph on the inside in yellow and smaller. No idea if that was an original speedo on that car though. I know my '73 had both mph and km/h on the speedo in the same way. Weird that they would alternate between the two...

Good call on the matching plates. Its probably been off the road for a while. I'll check for OOP when I phone. I'm guessing the odo has been frozen for a while, seeing as how the listed kms are higher than the actual kms on the gauge.

I'm still curious about the year due to the interior, but I'll have to check it out. Matt, I did find that car on TB in that colour, and its a '75. You sure its a one year only colour?

Also crazy that your '77 had no buttcheeks! Was that an option or something?

Hm. I thought it was a 1 year only colour, maybe I was mistaken or have been carrying mistaken information around with me for 20 years or so.

The buttcheeks had rusted away by the time I got them, not that the car didn't come with them originally.

Car is sold. Sigh.
Guess I should have phoned last night, but since when do crappy Volvos sell within a day? The lady said they had received quite a few calls.

Woodenshoes? Did you add one more to your collection?

Jeepers, I take a few day's off and look what happens. I think that is one of the most awesome colours on a 240 ever. Jim, did you buy it?

No, just a bit of suspense for Greg, but I did buy a 1984 244ti parts car this week for $100.
Bit rusty but not too bad. Leather interior is not great but the seat foams are not too bad. Windshield is in good shape, decent Virgos complete with caps and useable rubber. All in all a reasonable amount of stuff for the price.

Jeezus you're a tough sell. The guy only wanted $300 to begin with. You talked him down to $100? Note to self...before selling Jim anything, triple the asking price...
