She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed has finally had enough of the ten-year-ongoing project, so I'm here to see if anyone is interested in taking over the reins of a 42-year-old Volvo. I'd like to see it go to a good home - I'm only the 2nd owner of this car, and I'd hate to see it trashed or parted out. There are many years left in this old boy yet...
I drove it all winter, so it proved to me yet again how indestructable these antique Swedes are. It has 140,000 miles on it now, and it uses a little bit of oil, but not a lot. There is a small drip from the front crankshaft seal, but nothing to lose any sleep over. The wiper motor needs to be replaced - it stopped working a while ago - and the heater fan also stopped working this winter. Somehow having no wipers and no heater still didn't stop me from driving it all winter - a truly Canadian experience that my Korean wife only shook her head at. Every time I mention this car on The Car Lounge, the wagonistas on the east coast froth at the mouth.
I have a bunch of spare parts that I've foolishly bought on fleabay over the years before I realised that I could have just bought everything from NAPA for less. New front and rear springs, new front shocks, a complete gasket set, most of the bushings, and some other things as well. It still has the original paint, and it still looks pretty good - those Swedes knew how to paint and build cars! Because I drove it all winter, it has some rust, but nothing like some of the 20-year-old Toyota trucks I've seen driving around here.
It has a B20 with the dual Strombergs with a 4-speed manual transmission. I've been tempted over the years to replace the carbs with something else, but they still work great, so why fiddle with them?
If you have an interest in a unique old car like this, please get in touch with me at

To see some pictures, just go to the pics section here - I have a thread there with some nice shots out in the countryside, where he belongs. This is the thread:
