Hi gang,

My "bad decision" 122 is kicking my ass and I'm likely going to part it out. I'd like to try to get $1000 from everything I've got. I have a P1800 transmission with overdrive, and a brand new-looking clutch, so I reckon I'm not being unrealistic. I'll likely Ebay some of the juicier bits because although I don't want to be a prick, I want reasonable market value.

Here are some of the more interesting bits:
- 2 123GT front seats with the recaro side trim and handles. They'd need to be recovered.
- 1 original 123GT tach
- 1 shiny new clutch I got out of a parts car that looks like it just came off a parts counter
- 1 transmission with overdrive. M41.
- 1 crappy 1966 122S whose motor has very good compression. The timing isn't advancing on acceleration, so it may need a new distributor or for the current one to be repaired. This car is actually drivable, except the interior is pretty messed up and needs a lot of work.
- tons of trim and sheet metal. A hood, for instance.

I'm really just gauging interest right now. If someone wants the whole lot for $1000, I'd go for it.

I could use a nose, hood, and possibly front fenders.

Aside from all this, why are you parting it out again?

Hi all,

Some answers:
- There are a good pair of SUs on the car. I'm not sure if it's better for me to leave them on though if someone wants the motor (they may want the SUs). It would be a shame to junk the motor since the compression is strong.
- The sheet metal is in great shape in some areas, poor in others.
- The nose is in okay shape. I have a hood and a left fender in great shape that I took off a parts car.

I also have a lot of random parts lying around that I'm thinking I'll put on Ebay.

I'm parting it out because I want to get rid of it, and it seems like I could hit my $1000 goal more easily that way. The car needs considerable effort to make it nice, and I just don't feel like doing it. I've been filling my personal time with tons of awesome stuff, and I wish I had a 122 to drive, not languish in my garage for another year. Part of me is sad to give up, but whatever. I'm signed up for a lot of good things right now so I have to choose my battles.

Hi - Well I can sure empathize. I spent so many hours in the garage, it feels more like home than my house does. For better or worse, I put down the $$ for the paint, so had to finish it. It felt like "had to" sometimes, but all-and all, the project fit in with my life at that time (Master's Degree), and now I have a terrific car. I've also gotten fairly deep into it with a few other Volvos (but not that deep), and had all the tools, parts available, deep pockets etc.... so it was easier. I was going to get a custom lisence-plate with "never-again" on it, but it wouldn't fit, and anyways, no use driving-around with a chip on my shoulder after it is all done!!

Side trim...I need side trim, oh and a trunk if it isn't dented or damaged. You'll get good money for the 123 stuff on eBay, so I won't offer (do the seats have headrests?)

Oops, sorry for the delay. I've been away. I think the trunk is in good shape. I'll check the seats for headrests.

Thanks,
Dustin
