So went and looked at this car last night. Dale, if we were looking for a red hood to swap this isn't the car. Has a couple of minor dents on the hood, although one is in the crease and I don't think the near pink paint will buff out so it's no real gain if it's need painting.
Otherwise if anyone's interested he has a scrap offer of $200 so he's just trying to make a bit more to cover the 2 fairly new Hankook I-pikes that go with the car (once again someone who insists on running winters in teh rear only

) You could probably get the car sans winters for $250 which gets you this from a not completely thorough inspection:
- Major oil leak (I think it's the turbo feed/drain lines or the oil filter lines from his description)
- Tires are shot, Hydra rims aren't too curbed and may or may not cleanup (baked on dust)
- Paint is completely oxidized all over, I doubt that wet sanding and polishing could bring it back
- O/D is in-op, he had the Ipd bypass installed (I'm guessing that's what it was as he said he researched it on the interwebz and bought the part from some outfit in CA? and had a shop install it

) Still doesn't work so likely the shop screwed it up.
- Despite the O/D issue the transmission shifts fine and the fluid looked nice and red.
- Drivers door lock is jammed so the central locking is in-op. The other doors unlock with the key from the drivers lock, but it won't turn the other way and can't be manually pushed down.
- Looks clean for rust, other than the oxidizing there is no body rust.
- Engine fired right up and runs pretty smooth, the engine and tranny are both in pretty good shape. Never noticed any smoking or pinging including pulling the big hill out of Paradise Canyon.
- Brakes felt good, reasonably high pedal, no pulling or squealing.
- Suspension feels pretty tight, was pulling pretty good on the road test but realized after the drivers tire was half flat...
- Main fuel pump is very noisy and can't be long for this world.
- Rad overflow bottle was bone empty so couldn't check for oil in water, under the oil cap looked clean with no sludge or milky goop.
- Interior is fair, the drivers seat and rear seats are decent, the passenger bottom is pretty scarred up. Predictably the lumbar and seat heater doesn't work, never looked at the PS seat.
- A/C is converted to 134a (91 was still r12?) but according to the seller is in-op, might just need a charge?
- Blower motor works on all speeds and is quiet.
- The odometer reads 261K and was turning the whole time I drove it.
That's about it from what I can remember. For someone looking for a cheap winter beater this would be worth a look. I'm thinking the oil leak/OD/door lock are fairly easy fixes and the main FP should be changed. I would try a light polish to assess the paint before going any further, it should be able to be made to look a little better.
