Alright guys....seems like i'm making a lot of these lately...funny seeing as how I dont have a job.

Anywho, I need a new turbo. Mine is blowing oil and is just mmm mmm mmm eating it all up, I think I went through at least 2L on the drive up and down to edmonton. Afterwards when replacing vacuum line I looked in the turbo to see a small but noticable puddle. Now this car is an 83 (but has factory/maybe dealer installed IC) and at a later date they put in a water cooled turbo so I have the fittings for that (I would prefer water/oil turbo).

So ya....let me know, give me a call if you want i'm free this week. Bring it by for the bbq (I still need a number, no one has really responded in the meeting thread). I'll be heading up to ras's and taking out my 90+ in the other car.

Andy

before dropping a bunch of dough on a turbo, make sure it's the turbo that's the problem! It's easy to think that's where your oil is going because there's always oil in the intake hoses, but that's there even on fairly good turbos.

How much shaft play in the turbo? How much oil is in your intercooler? Is your oil separator box good and clean? How many miles on the engine? Do you use more oil on the highway than in the city?

My old b21ft used LOTS of oil, mostly just on the highway though. It was loose bores and bad valve guides. Do a compression and leak down test.

I've had some REALLY bad turbos that didn't leak alot of oil. Most of the oil in my intake charge pipes came from the PCV, I'm fairly sure.

On the flipside, I've seen brand new turbos blow lots of oil.

Drain your IC and flush it out with solvent, and then check it in a month. It's a pretty good oil collector, and much of what's coming out the turbo (or PCV) ends up there, so you can get a pretty good idea of how much you're actually going thru by checking your IC once in a while.

I drained the IC and put 4L of paint thinner though it with shaking and everything. There is some shaft play on the turbo and I just passed 300k on the motor. I'm thinking I will make a catch can and see how that does.
It definately uses more on highway but I think just being in a higher rpm eats more. I'm thinking I will be replacing valve guides and seals soon when I do another parts order from the states.
