It's finally time to start thinning the herd, so here is the first one for sale a 1990 Volvo 244. As shown in the pics it is burgundy over charcoal cloth. We have owned the car since August 2010 and a lot of maintenance and improvements have been done since. When we got the car the odometer showed 173K and only turned intermittently, changing the ODO gear didn't help so I replace the cluster with a good PnP unit and installed the new gear. This used cluster went in showing 195K and is now reading 231K, I would estimate the car is around 300 - 325K.
The only option on the car is cruise control which doesn't work... derp. The interior is clean and the cloth seats look good. I rebuilt the drivers seat and it's pretty comfortable, the lumbar and heating both work.
The good:
- Volvo OEM water pump
- Timing belt with tensioner and all drive belts
- All front engine seals
- iPd Catback "Sport" exhaust
- All new Poly suspension bushings except for the rear TAB's as they appear to have been replaced at one time and still looked good
- All new front brakes with ATE grooved rotors, PBR pads, rebuilt calipers and complete fluid flush/bleed
- New front wheel bearings
- Turbo sway bars 23/21 mm with poly bushings
- Synthetic oil in the engine, transmission (m47), and differential
- New 800 cca battery
- New radiator and T'stat
- New pinion seal
- Complete PVC/flametrap cleaning, MAF and Throttle body cleaning
- New plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor
- Replaced intake manifold gasket
- Replaced most of the vacuum lines underhood
- Bilstein TC struts and KYB GAJ shocks
- New alternator
- Rebuilt drivers seat, passenger is in good condition
- Rear windows 20% tint, professionally done
- New motor mounts
- New outer tie rod ends and rear u-joint
- Power polished paint and dyed vinyl door trim
- No leaks and uses almost no oil
- Good used taillights installed and polished
- Wet sanded and polished headlight lenses, nice and clear now
- Good 195/65-15 summer tires mounted on bronze colored Virgo's, looks good with the burgundy car
- Very good 185/70-14 Gislaved NF5's mounted on Volvo Dersus rims
- Both door pockets intact, PS needs to be repaired and should be done shortly
- Has a JVC AM/FM/CD Stereo running on stock speakers, works fine but it's older so no ext. jack etc.
- Large Tach and small clock installed, clock only keeps time when engine is running
- Almost perfect set of Black Volvo floor trays
- Detailed engine bay and trunk, not show car but nicer than most
- Minor to no underbody rust
The bad:
- Sask. salvage title, I have all of the paper work and pics of the damage. Has been reg'd in Alberta for years
- Rust at the PS rear rocker and in the rear wheel well arch
- A couple of rust bubbles around the windshield, it leaks if you hit it with pressure at the car wash
- Being a Sask. car it has some gravel rash but not too bad
- The handbrake ratchet assy. is a little coarse, I have a good PnP unit to go with the car
- Drivers door hinge holder thingy is worn so door swings closed, I have a good PnP unit to go with car
- Shifter bushings need to be replaced, transmission shifts very nice but stick has a fair bit of play
Asking $1950 OBO. This is negotiable and reflects all of the work that has gone in to the car, the clean state it's in as well as 2 sets of rims and tires. There's still a few things to do, but from the list above you can see most of the heavy lifting has been done.
