Yup. It was a kid that owned it before. I was surprised considering all the money the new owner had spent that he didn't bother to fix any of the little things. But maybe now he did.

Indeed. Atacama would make it very hard to resist. I'd be surprised if the clutch slave and struts had made it that long, but you never know.

Hard to say on the struts, I've read posts on SS of guys doing 200K "miles" or more with others having crapped out a lot sooner? Safe to say there isn't tons of life left in these though.

Saw the twin to your wrecked car on Autotrader and was wondering, what's the last button do on the lower control panel? The other 2 that aren't obvious are park assist and power folding mirrors right? Can't figure out what the last one is... Also, not a bad deal if it check's out OK?

Wow!!! That is an exact twin. Very nice! Only thing it doesn't have is premium sound. Agreed, that is a very good deal if it checks out, especially on the coast. Looks pretty clean. Mine cost almost exactly that with similar mileage, but that was a good deal too. The new car was over 4 grand more...with similar mileage. It just has Nav and rear seat DVD. The more I think about it, the more I realize how bad a deal it was....but it was exactly what I wanted, and almost nothing similar has come up since.

Buttons on the console l-r are: 4C, DSTC, folding mirrors, park assist, and alarm disable.

That 06' R is a great price - but it all comes down to how well its been maintained. Mileage isn't that big of a concern, and even the 4C struts aren't that pricey when available via Rock Auto. The 06' XC seems like a great deal as well.

Rabin, thanks for the Rock Auto tip. Had a look and they're just over $300 which is really not that bad. Had a quick look at the 4C delete thread on SS and it seems like it's not that hard to do with no adverse consequences. The OP actually said the non electronic struts were bigger and beefier than the OEM.

Also, not sure what's up with the 06R but he's just dropped the price to $10900 after only being up < 2 days?? Tempting... :?

Wooot! My notifications are working again!

$10900?!! Damnit Jim - you better check that car out... Regret is a nasty feeling so better make sure to properly rule it out.

Booyeah for notifications ON

Yeah I'm really thinking hard on this one. Biggest thing holding me back is this will be an "appliance" ie: I don't want or have the time/energy to work on it so it could be a pricey ride. Good to see your recommendation for the other shop in town for PPI's, wasn't really wanting to use Valentine if it comes to that.

Here's the link to the 4C delete thread. I didn't see anything that limited it to 04's only, but I've only made it up to page 4.

http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread ... -struts%29

ETA: Save yourself the time, just finished reading to the end and you are correct, 04 only. :(

Luckily for me that 245 sold already....

I suppose a c70 with a non working soft top for $1800 is probably a bad idea.....

Damn - I was all hopeful they had a breakthrough in the 4C delete, but now that I see how sophisticated this car is - the only alternative to 4C would be aftermarket electrically adjustable dampers since they're integral to the vehicle systems.

As for appliances - life is short, much too short for driving appliances. My wife has no idea how capable the car is performance wise, but the seats are comfy, heated, and it has a killer stereo. I however will literally giggle when I do something childish like merging at WOT, or dusting a punk kid off the lights. :)

As for PPI - I would suggest calling first just to make sure they have the Volvo specific tools. The reason I went to Paul aside from the great referrals was that he had the tools for reading the software and he was familiar with the cars. Din is a phenomenal tech - and I would trust him with any repair, but in the case with the 06'R PPI - I felt experience with them and knowing what to look for was more important.

Not sure how much recourse you have with PPI's if something comes up, but that's a good reason in favour of a dealer PPI.

There was some chatter about "Lucky" (I think he is ARD Tuning) working on a software solution for all of the years, no word on how close he is to getting that done, if ever?

That probably makes sense on using Valentine, was hoping for a Paul, Jordan type of experience where you can actually discuss the findings with a Tech you know and trust.

Not surprised for a one owner 93 245 at that price...

 With the C70, the purchase price will be the smallest cheque you stroke for that car.

Maybe I'm grouchy this morning? I thought this thread was to post Kijiji finds. I've come back to this thread a dozen times since it was started and, while it's 2 pages long, most of it is discussion about one or two cars. I'm all for discussion and sharing knowledge and experience. In fact, the more that is documented on these pages the better. I just find it irritating to keep seeing new posts in the thread but no new Kijiji finds. [/rant] [-o<

Fair enough Dale, FWIW I was thinking the exact same thought yesterday and had thought of starting another thread to discuss all things newer Volvo allowing this thread to go back to it's original intent. Thanks for the push. :D

In keeping with the original intent of this thread, this car appears to be nicely done. DON'T like the chrome rims at all, but the BBS's and the rest of the build are very nice, and it's local. =D>

Remember Stan? The guy who appeared here looking for all sorts of answers and when we didn't cough up answers in what he thought was a suitable time frame, he called us a bunch of retards, took his ball and went home...
