After my failed attempt to get a 242 from Seattle (that place is jinxed right Dale?).

Anyone have somthing? Looking for a straight 142 or 242 body. Sort of a shop project at work.

I got screwed up at the boarder first off.... Spent 4.5 hours waiting to cross. then talk to the guy and he says they are closing at 330 and I'd have to wait til monday to bring the car back. They didn't bother telling me this when I told them I'd be there around 6 that night 3 days earlier.

Then got to the car, and it was quite a bit rougher then the pictures led on. It had a SERIOUS exhaust leak at the mani. I had planned on fixing that and the OD in Kamloops, but since I lost 2 days due to the boarder, I had no time. So I just said no to him, tried to give him 50 bucks for driving 2 hours north. And left empty handed. Atleast I got to see my family.

Expensive 1200 dollar learning experiance for me, but seeing family is priceless...

I know of a silver 81 242T that I've sort of had my eyes on up the road.
It is basically complete and lacks an engine. Manual windows, no passenger side mirror, sunroof I think (ugh), black velour interior, non A/C car.

I think the guy could probably part with it for 500 bones. Between John and I there is probably a reliable daily beater B23F or B21FT/M46 combo to be had to throw in it at some point.
The body is mostly straight with some scratches. Has minor butt cheek rust. Under the carpets looks fine, but it smells a bit musty from sitting, so I'd worry about the sound deadening soaking up water in the floors.
The good news is that I know that car isn't going anywhere really, but the bad news is that until after IPD or so, I really can't persue it. IPD might be a good place to buy a good car...bring money....lol.

Yeah...Seattle...seems to be jinxed. But...the replacement for the 122 body shell might come from there so I guess I'll see if it's third time lucky for me. That won't be for a while yet so who knows...

Jordan, what are you messing around for? Get something from one of the southern states, something solid and complete. Spend the money now on something that's truly nice. Talk to Pat Dickman - he seems to know where all the super-nice cars are, though he's not exactly in a southern state or anything...

I saw your fiberglass front at Johns place Dale, gonna look awsome. He has them hung like decorations.

Matt, I will message Pat. After my last attempt though, money is tight and was hoping I wouldn't have to do a cross boarder transaction. I will still message him though, he might be able to point me in the right direction.

Yeah, I can sneak some pics when I get a chance. Like I said, the car isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Pat D is a real straight forward guy. He knows his 240s better than anyone I've ever met and I see him when I'm in Portland once in a while. He is kind of tied up with other stuff these days, but there is a good chance he'd have something or know of something that is genuinely good.

B4ford (ethan) is the guy to talk to in finding nice 140s in Portland. He may have even briefly owned our old white 71 142E he has owned so many of them! 140 steering sucks, not having such a flexy chassis is FTW. Even 140s are so old that in Portland some are kind of rusty.

A car is kind of a big ask, and John's kind of full up on cars, but as soon as I get my 242 (the one in John's shop with no fenders covered in sand dust) running and after John and I hit IPD, you might ask him if one of us could bring a car to Lynden (like 5 minutes from the WA/BC border) and just arrange to pick it up and have John drive it around a bit on the backroads or something to make sure it is solid.

Even through B-ham is only about 300 miles north of Portland, volvos are much more frequently driven in snow or salt up here and are definitely showing it compared to my last cali/portland 245 that was a dream to work on compared to anything else.

I've e-mailed that 242 bmeire, asking for more pictures.

I'd rather not have to go down to the states again. Not for a 240.

I'm sort of amazed that none of you Albertans have jumped on this

Thats a good 8K dollars here.....

Someone go buy it and flip it?

Might have found somthing locally amazingly.

Its an 82 244GL. Its gold (I know ugly), has 108K ORIGINAL KILOMETERS!

Its an Auto ;(

Erm whatelse. Gonna go look at it tonight. Apparently the paint on it is still damn nice. 2 or 3 little rust spots on the body. Saftied (means the underside is rust free).

Woot

Jordan

Edit- Just looked at it. Rebuild title. Cassie knows who did it... Kinda scary depending on how bad it was hit originally. Engine and tranny feel real tight. Bushings were shot. And pulled pretty bad. Asking 2200... I don't think I'll bite.
Floors were solid, some spots of rust starting around car... But nothing more than surface

Too far away Athal, I don't have a passport so I can't fly down there.

I have a lead on 2 here. One sitting at a restoration shop in the same spot for the last 6 months. No rust.

Second one is one at a body shop, in primer, no rust
