Okay. So...before y'all get mad at me, this is going to happen AFTER I replace the windshield and the upper strut mounts...but...

I kinda want a new deck for the car. The stock cd player just plain sucks. Speakers aren't something I'll worry about too much just yet...I know I have a couple iffy ones but that gets pricy and for now they're still good. So...good place to get the music-makers for the cars that does a good job and does decent install?

I've seen a really good s70 deck install on the volvospeed forums, but I've also seen some damned ugly ones....needless to say when I get it done I'd rather it be done right. So, any experiences, advice, etc just so I can start checking things out?

i can install it,

go buy a deck you like from a pawn shop, and buy the adapter harness from futureshop and get any DIN adapters or faceplates for nonstandard mounts, from eBay or a volvo dealer perhaps.

let me know.

raz sweetie - i don't think you're understanding the hidiousness of some installs ive seen...

I'm not so worried about the installation of the deck itself, that should be easy as pie, its getting the spacers and faceplates and stuff to FIT PROPERLY that concern me. I don't want bits half sticking out or random gaps or any other general ugliness. (not saying you'd do this raz, but this is something I will be incredibly picky with, I'd rather just get new (warrenty worthy) stuff and get it installed by professionals where if they do a shitty ass job I can call them on it and make em fix it.

pretty much any place like futureshop and that suck at installs. I've seen some of the worst work from places like that, my brother was thinking of doing that a long time ago and they said he needed experience even though his are some of the cleanest i've ever seen.

The stock speakers and amp suck, but the original head unit and CD changer is doing great in our 90 744ti. I'd go out of my way to keep that thing....it is so hideous and says "volvo" on it that no one would ever steal it. I'm thinking of adapting the CR-814 to my 240. It is easy to use, HIDEOUS111, and I can just replace the wimpy amp and papery speakers for a good enough system for a car (I don't really make a big deal out of car audio anyway...adds weight and cars aren't exactly concert halls anyway).
