Last week I buggered up my ankle so this prevented my from doing any work in my yard (crutches will do that). so I figure I can sit on my ass in the garage and install my new E-Code lenses and HID conversion in the C70.

It is VERY simple to replace these lenses, but to my surprise when I removed the old lenses the reflective surface on the headlight housing was shot. I tried giving it a gentle wipe with a dry cloth to see if it was dirt and it wiped off ... not the dirt but the silver surface ... shit!!!

So with nothing else to loose I prepped and carefully painted the reflector surface with "Chrome" paint. Not sure how long it will hold up, I guess only time will tell. What I can tell you is that the HID's are sure brighter, have to wait until tonight to see if there are any hot spots, but in the garage they look good with a clean pattern

I imagine that the single-pattern HIDs are going to work much better than what would install on the dual filiment type headlights.

What did you do to your ankle, Ian? Sucks that you've got to relax for a little bit...

Leaving work on Wednesday they are half finished the slate tiles around the front of our building. I just stepped a little wrong and on the edge of one of the tiles and rolled my ankle right over. Spent 4 hours in emergency with the swelling so bad it looked like a tennis ball on the side of my ankle. X-rays showed no breaks but I did tear some ligaments. My foot is black, blue and cool shades of green. It is starting to feel better today, and I am getting around without the crutches, but still limping.

Eastwood also sells a chrome paint for light reflectors if the stuff you have doesn't work. As for your ankle - Lawsuit? Kidding - get well soon.

Nothing to do with headlight reflectors but a chuckle anyways..
to cheer up your ankle.

Sitting at home one night with his wife, a man is casually tossing peanuts into the air and catching them in his mouth. As the couple take in the latest episode of their favorite program, the man loses concentration for a split second, and a peanut goes into his ear. He tries to get it out, but succeeds only in forcing the thing in awfully
deep.

After a few hours of fruitless rooting the couple decide to go to the hospital, but on their way out of the front door they meet their daughter coming in with her boyfriend.

The boyfriend takes control of the situation; he tells them he's studying medicine and that they're not to worry about a thing. He then sticks two fingers up the man's nose and asks him to blow, and low and behold, the nut shoots from the ear and out across the room.

As the daughter and her boyfriend go through to the kitchen to get drinks, the man and his wife sit down to discuss their luck. "So" the wife says, "what do you think he'll become after he finishes school? A GP or a surgeon?"

"Well says the man, rubbing his nose, "by the smell of his fingers, I think he's likely to be our son-in-law."

Resist the temptation to respond to every new post and you won't find yourself in quite as much need of explaining yourself...

I realize this thread is old and sounds like your headlights turned out great (hopefully your ankle heeled up nice and quick too) but it reminded me of a small DIY article i read somewhere online. Someone had an issue with their reflector flaking in a few spots so they used tape like this (silver or aluminum foil tape?) to fix problem spots on their reflectors and it turned out great.

Granted this would only work if you had a few small spots to repair and not a whole reflector!

You could have a really funky pattern though with crinkled foil tape as a reflector ;)

That reflective tape is great in signal lights and tail lights...
