Took the 740 out for a boot today, saw between 10 and 14 on the boost gauge (must be the coldish weather)

did a little spirited driving, kind of... dropped the clutch in 2nd at full boost up a hill and spun what I THOUGHT was my tire all the way up the hill..

Whats a good clutch upgrade? ;) I want this damn volvo to last!

You want it to last? Leave the clutch like it is. Upgrade the clutch and you'll be breaking transmissions....

... I want it to last... leave it slipping?

or replace to OEM because mine is probably old and ugly?

I guess my point was if you leave it as is, you're not going to break anything because you can't drive it hard...

If you replace it, replace it with an OEM clutch, not an aftermarket upgrade...

Not driving a car hard is probably the most disgusting thing you can ask me to do. Might as well take my penis and throw it on the highway!

How cheap can you get me an OEM clutch? :)

Not very...check with Brad. I checked for Greg a while back and it wasn't very cheap... I think it was in Greg's transmission thread...

I am $650 all into my getrag conversion, including the clutch. I could have done it a little cheaper had I not spent some on a clutch that I roasted.
I now have beefed up the diff, driveshaft, gearbox, and clutch. Working with John on the torque rods. I run my car no higher than 11psi generally. I have broken 1 M46 at stockish boost, retired another, bent two sets of torque rods, blown one diffy etc.
Find a not so tired OEM clutch, or IMO, don't even bother replacing the clutch and put a tranny of some sort that doesn't suck in it if you want to flog it. I haven't been horribly abusive. The first M46 was tired and loose, so it probably died partly because I killed it and partly because it was tired to begin with.
I suppose $650 is a lot of JY M46s....but it does get old replacing broken junk..even if you don't drive it that hard. I snapped the first M46 just going up hill in 3rd, sachs sport clutch.

M46's are pretty much the gayest tranny that ever were.

Mmmm, I drove my volvo again last night - it didn't slip much, mostly because there was white stuff on the ground that slipped instead :)

That car is alot of fun, it's really hard to understand why thoe, so many bad parts about Volvos, and still - somehow - they are alot of fun.

I like volvos, I don't know why though thats the problem and it bugs me. I love working on them but mine hates me...I can understand why. The new ones are meh though, nothing too special to drive. The R isn't all that great, first thing i'd do is rip the ecu out and put something proper in there....stupid torque limiter in the first 2 gears. I'm glad you like yours ras, good to hear its working out for you.

One bad thing about working at valentine is that I see so many wheels that I want....I saw some satellites today, and wow those are some funky little wheels, I would run them. They also have a 240 rear axle just lying in the compound, I'm going to ask them for some parts off it.
