Ok, I have 2 of these bad boys (DHLA 40's) and since I might have a hard or expensive time getting a fuel injected motor in I was wondering if anyone had any experiance with them?

I think running dual carbs with 4 side velocity stacks would give the truck some old school flavor but I dont know how hard these things would be to tune.

Here's a pic:

Ohh, the new toy is in that pic too!!

I had triple Webers on my 240z. They're as easy to tune as any other carburator, but parts are getting mighty scarce. So long as you've got the right size choke (venturi), and a decent emulsion tube, everything else is tunable with jets. I bought a whack of too-small jets and some jet drills to open them up to what I needed, and got a pretty reasonable tune out of them. If I could do that when I was 20 and broke, you might have a shot.

Weber DCOE or the Mikuni or Dellorto cousins are the most tunable carburators around. They have been used on thousands upon thousands of race cars for a good reason.

As Matt said, they are easy to tune, as long as you have a selection of jets, chokes, emulsion tubes, venturies, ...

I was lucky that I worked at Sports Tune Ltd which had bins of parts. Doing it alone could be expensive and long just waiting for parts. There are some awesome tuners, many on-line who should be able to give you a close set-up as a starting point.

wicked. I think I might use them then.

I would love FI but I think the carbs will look wicked in the engine bay.
