Picked up my painted cowl & splitters, then started work on the car. Fuel lines went on well, filter, ... got the fuel system hooked up YAY!!!
Then I turned on the pump, fuel everywhere, the quick connect fuel log I got off EBay leaked like a syve, no way to fix it so climb into the car, across town to Best Buy Performance (or whatever they are called now) and buy a new fuel log ... $72. Home I go, install the loverly shiny blue & red piece, turn on the pump ... no leaks (that I could see
). Fuel pressure was at 12 psi so get the tools out to adjust my EBay bypass regulator .... not a chance, it too is NFG. Back into the car and off the Best Buy (we are on first name basis now). Buy a new regulator $95, drive home and install this beautiful billet jewel. Adjust the pressure to a steady 7.5 psi, perfect.
Now a quick oil change before the inagrual start, you know, just in case
some A/F got into it from the intake change, pull the plug and Niagra Falls
starts ... first slow because the oil is thick, then fasted as this thin
liquid comes out by the gallon. WTF
My crankcase is full of gas, no actually the entire engine is full of gas
(thank god I didn't try starting it). The front metering plate on the carb
had a slight warp, this allowed fuel to run directly into the engine, fill
up the cylinders ... you get the picture.
Anyway, the heat coming out my ears and mouth help evaporate the gas all over the garage floor, I pulled the carb, fixed the leak, tripple checked
everything, dryed out the cylinders & oiled them, disconnected the
distributor and cranked for oil pressure.
Started great, runs good, now I am drinking beer and lots of wine later
