Got it done...twice. First relay lasted for 2 engagements of the OD then quit. So I put in the other spare - it's the last one I've got, so I hope there isn't some other problem that is causing this car to eat 50A relays! When the ignition is on (engine not started) and the transmission in 4th the relay pulls with every click of the ID button and things sound fine. The first relay sort of stuttered to life the first time then seemed OK - I guess it was it's time to go.

Any other reason that relay would pop like that?

if i use after market relays they don't last 3 months.(garbage)
i now buy original and check all your grounds....not worth the time or aggrevation just so you can save 20.00 bucks.

I've got a hockey sock full of relays. I'm sure we can keep you supplied with backups for years...

Here's the list of what I drove home with in the 242...mud flaps on the ground FTW.

Interior bits including:

gauge cluster, three door arm rests, seat belts, foot well covers, full set of mats, various relays, sun visors, glove box, plastic battery tray, 4 later style adjustable mirrors, speakers for doors, and a mitt full of other assorted interior stuff.

Full front suspension (boxed by Matt) with front hubs, brakes and struts/springs. Rear suspension arms, torque rods (4), Panhard rods (2), some random shocks, 3 flat hood grills, 4 single round headlight bezels, 2 quad square bezels, 3 sway bars, and a front fender.

The way I got it figured...if I had an engine and rear axle I would have had a 240 carrying a 240. It was very Johnny Cash (One Piece at a time). This all fit in my car along with a fresh air system for painting, a bag of tools, and ME.

These things are stupendously spacious.

The latest efforts include combining the two gauge clusters to get a fully functional unit. The old gauge cluster board had a burnt out trace and there were problems with the temperature and gas gauge on the other cluster. Once combined they made a good cluster that can drive the clock (took a couple of tries to get it right). With that done, Greg and I got the new door handles installed, most of the other new bits were installed last night including all the dash lights that were burnt out in the new cluster.

We pulled the doors apart and lubed up the moving bits - I still need a window regulator as the original is skipping. That made little things like the sticky door lock go away. Finally I fixed up the door speakers with the parts pulled from the '86 at the JY. They work great now that the stereo is rewired and installed.

The "86 remote control mirrors went on today. I still have to change the oil in the transmission and get the "better" seat belts installed. Toss on the belly pan and then I should be just about ready for the snow. This weekend I'm off to the JY to pick up some good seats to scavenge the foam and springs to rebuild the GT seats.

Nice. If I'm around, I'm in for a JY run.

And we forgot to throw in the second set of springs for Greg...

Maybe Dale could put them in a box and send them this way with my OD pan gasket. Parts from FCP got here today - should be ready to do the suspension swap with the YROG.

JY on a Saturday - what could be better. The seats I'm thinking about are coming out of a beige 245 and are a light brown houdstooth fabric. Never seen anything like it - and it is so retro cool. If anyone wants the covers speak up and they're yours.

Oh, and I've got all the plumbing fittings to make a 240 rear bushing removal tool - that should come in handy.

Still not sure I'll be here Saturday, but if I am, the JY run and suspension swap sound wicked. Its gonna suck to throw out that houndstooth upholstery.

Dale, PM coming your way.

Ok all you K-Jet guru's...I'm trying to isolate a surge at about 2000 rpm and don't know where to look - it's just an annoyance as I cruise at around that engine speed and it bugs me. I've changed the O-rings on the injectors - by the way, don't drop the plastic thingy down the hole in #4 intake runner. It will get lost in all the damn plumbing and take almost 2 hours to get out (how to make a 5 minute job take 3 hours...). As I was searching for the lost part, I took the K-Jet stuff mostly apart and cleaned up all the goop inside the rubber hose and off the plate. I did find a single vac line disconnected, but that hasn't changed anything.

I suppose it could be spark related and I've got a set of plugs/rotor and cap coming. The wires look original - but they shouldn't cause a surge (it sort of hunts at 2K). So what could cause the surge?
