you all know that petition will never work!!
what i'd like to see if that money does go to improving and actually supervising the parking lots.
i charge 10.00 dollars a day for parking.
P.S Kat i drive by mcknight everyday on my way to work, pay your 3 dollars
and i'll pick you up and drop you off at your office but you gotta find your own way back because my closing hours are all over the place. 07:00-07:30 arrival time.
let me know.
Paul.

hmm...ten bucks a day eh....

tempting Paul...very tempting. Extra three bucks/day means I'm not squashed in like sardines in a can...and if Christine goes possessed again...least you guys are around ;)

As far as the other suggestion goes...being at the LRT for 7-7:30 means no doggy daycare for Peach (they only open at 7:30) so that's a no go. Good thought though ;)

Just to stick a knife in the Calgary people for fun - parking right outside my building $32/month ($1.75/day) - commute to work - 7 minutes. I spent years with an hour transit commute each way, so I feel your pain.

Meah I chose to live an obscene commute away. The drive doesn't bug me. The anal raping I get from Calgary Transit does.

hope your rent is really cheap out there!

~$200/mo parking/transit fees
~$200(?)/mo fuel + maintenance
40? 50? MORE? hours of commuting time a month- what's your time worth? Mines at least $20/hr $800...

Suddenly downsizing and getting a place within walking distance of downtown doesn't sound so bad...

I know i know, you have a dog, but there was a house for rent a few blocks from me for $1600, fenced yard (not sure if they allow dogs but i'm sure you could find somewhere). Split that between 2 or 3 people...walk to work!

Athal, I don't know if you've noticed...but I've got that personality not a lot of people can live with...and I can't live with a lot of people.

And my mortgage is around $700/month. mwahahaha.

You missed the $400+ you spend because you live out there. I suspect you spend more than $10 a day on fuel... That's $1100+ plus the time spent commuting.

Yes, I know...you can't afford a mortgage payment in the big city and you don't want to pay someone else's mortgage...

ya you got it sweet.. =D>
but just think you get up at 4 am,have breakfast,a quick walk with the dog,
then you have a nice 90 km drive to Calgary, you can watch the beautiful sunrise and look at the praires, possible run over some rodent or hit a deer or coyote,
break down call for help and meet interesting people.
I call it adventure living not to mention the joys of meeting all those diseased infested people that ride the LRT.
i don't know how you do it????
But in a way i envy you.

Damn, I get up at 6 and I live in Okotoks (work starts at 7). Granted I just through on some close and take off, no need for getting dressed up for a construction site.

I rode LRT for almost a year, hated every day of it.
BTW Kat, if you drive downtown there is a lot at the eastend of 7th ave (the LRT street) that was $7/day (the entrance is on 5th street between 7th and 6th ave SE). I parked there and jumped on the free train, it was cheaper than riding the LRT with my wife.
There are a few homeless people there in the afternoon but they never bothered my wife or me once.

For the year I worked downtown, I LOVED taking the train. It kicked ass over taking a car - way less stress, way quicker, way cheaper, way BETTER. I wouldn't have taken a car downtown even if parking were free.

Then again, all I have to do is walk 3 blocks from my home and I'm at a train station. AND I was able to be downtown before 6:00, so the ride in was quite relaxing and elbow-roomy.

Kat, consider this: In the time you've been taking the train, have you EVER had your ticket checked? I worked downtown for a year, and never once had a cop look at my pass. I could have saved the $840 and risked the first offense of $125 (and every offense after that is $250.)
