I didn't want to confuddle the CVC cruise with something that I had thought would be a cool thing to do one day, whether I had a cruising partner or not. Might be an idea to keep them both separate anyway, and start another thread. However, I'm not 100% sure I want to GO to IPD just yet, or that I'll be ready to make the trip in May, so I'm not sure I should be spearheading that one.

In fact, why the heck does this need any planning at all? The date and venue are set, the festivities are set, all it'll take is a bit of talk closer to the dates to get some stops along the way arranged.

True, probably a good idea to keep the iPd trip as a seperate thread.
I was not intending either thread to include planning, just to generate ideas, which they have been generating lots of discusion. Then the ideas can be put into plans ... if needed ... on another thread. Or just chatted about on "wing night" :D

I agree...if I am not down in Texas at that time again, i might just whip down to Pornland (more strip clubs per capita than Las Vegas! ;) )

ciao

You will have time to think about it. I checked the cabins around and nobody takes reservation until next year, between february for the earliest one and april.

A thought about the 2008 gathering.
I know we have the idea of Jasper and area but I had another thought.

I think most of us are on the same page with this years gathering, staying closer to Calgary and planning other events rather than just "driving".

I was thinking what about something as simple as Westward Ho in Sundre. A large group camping area, close(er) drive for Calgary, Lethbridge, Edmonton & Hinton, baseball diamonds, golf course, fishing (help me on this one Dale)...

Just an idea and looking for feedback

lol as far as the golfing goes...as long as we play furthest ball, i'm okay with it. ;)

I think, just on a practical point, closer does leave more options for other people....if we do it, some could do it just as a day trip, some could do some sort of overnighty shenanaginnery, little bit more flexible.

Not much fishing around Westward Ho but that's not terribly important. When I go fishing, it's usually for a whole day, that won't work really well. There are other group camp areas we can look at as well. Or...we can look at a rural community centre where we could camp and also have access to some shelter and cooking facilities. There are lots of those in the Sundre area too. I think it was Harmattan Hall we were at a family reunion a couple of years ago. Nice place...out in the country close to Sundre. Lots of room for camping. A fully equipped kitchen, washrooms and a banquet hall. There are other halls as well. I go by a couple every time I head out the Nordegg to go fishing. There are quite often trailers and motorhomes parked around than for family reunions and stuff...

Just something to chew on...

edit... http://www.windsorgraphics.ca/cgi-bin/t ... ubmit=View

Gives you an idea about what might be out there...this is just the listing on the Olds town website...

Did someone say GOLF...I'm all over that idea, though having some cool cruise/photo options would be great. Has anyone ever thought of coming a little further south, say for example Writing on Stone or Waterton area?

Mrow.

August or July for 1 week of volvo vacation - would be ideal.

No on iPD for me.

Kinda true, IF I have the time (with my new job, IF is a very big word) and if I feel like it.

We should also remember that we have members in Red Deer and Edmonton. It would be great if they could make it to an event.
