It looks like I didn't say anything about my weakness and the fact that I couldn't resist...

I bought a 940 about 2 weeks ago from my buddy in France. That's his parent car.

'96 (build in '95) 940 B230FK + 5 speed (M47)

47,500km!

The color is kinda gay (pinkish red) but overall, it's sooooooooo nice! :)

I have to wait 2 years to wait until I get it (he already have 5 Volvos, so he will store it for me until then and I'll have a car to drive next time I'll go to Europe!) So I'll bring my 740 to 500,000 km and give it away. (if I don't move to Australia first)

I bought it for the price of a location!

Anyway, less talking, here the cutie! 8)

That's why I prefer European cars over US. So nice! :D

Nice work Steph! Tint the windows and it won't look quite so ghey. Looks like it will be worth the wait.

That is pretty freaking sweet! Looks mint.
Did someone swap the turbo engine in? I'm not seeing any turbo badges on the back. Perhaps Euro cars didn't have them. If they did swap in that engine, that would explain the m47. If they didn't, I think Athal's got it right....m90. Nice wheels too.

I think in '94 they pretty much dropped the various badging and just put "940" on the back. Mine just says 940, and didn't even come with a boost gauge!

Shouldn't be an M47. The shifter is all wrong, besides. I'm pretty sure it's an M90.

Beware 3rd gear.

I know one of the older m90 boxes isn't as strong as the later ones, but I'm pretty sure they're all a big step up from the m45/6/7's third gear!

It's not so much the strength of 3rd gear itself, it's the speed at which you shift into 3rd gear, IIRC.

Stephs M46 has lasted how many hundred thousand kms? I think he'll be ok :)

Hehe! I never got so many positive replies to one of my thread.

Not sure. Could be a M90... I don't care. Real 5 speed manual transmission, that's all what I care about. I'll pamper that one, you have no idea! Oh! And I passed 430,000km last saturday. 8) And never had any trouble with the 3rd gear. :D

It passed most of its life in a heated garage. Complete maintenance book (always went at the dealer for maintenance - changed stuff on time, not km! ), not even a single mark on the paint

Just the door sill... Isn't that the total class? :prayer: And the leather seats, brand new! Not a single scratch or crack in it! 8) (same with the dash! :supz: ) I'm all excited about my next trip in Europe!

But I think you could have guessed what I bought. I've been looking for one for so long. Always passed by good occasion, but not always what I wanted. When my buddy told me his parents were thinking about selling it: I TAKE IT! Didn't even asked how much! Outside the major center (never ever buy a car from Paris! There's more dent on a parisian car than on all our cars together), you can find a nice car with low milleage and great maintenance. They have no winter (no salt, no sand) and their road put ours to disgrace. So plenty of good opportunities! Also: TONS of manual transmissions! And gas engine are worth nothing! I should do like Athal and start an import business!

And yes (or no); no turbo badge or guage. :(

Somebody knows these wheels?
