just did 6 ABS control modules this month and another on Friday is booked in.
i found a fellow from club vee dub who repairs them....
anybody here familiar with the repair?????????? 3 day turn around.

he replaces the heat sinks with bigger ones and re-solders the board.
but it's funny a VW guy that fixes Volvo.(but then again those units are made by the same company(ATE)

Damn, I'll keep that in mind if the one on Roberta's 850 ever goes. I know it's a simple repair to the electronics and I know there are folks online who do them, but it's good to know someone local knows the trick.

I second what Matt said, I know the control on my C70 was replaced just before I bought it but there have been 2 occasions that the ABS/Trac Control light has come on while driving. Thank god it reset on the next trip

Thanks for the info Paul

yes, thatsmevulva's 2000(?) C70. Didn't take long, and that was last year and so far so good. THe hardest part was getting the damn cover off the unit, it's kind of glued on.

Its pretty simple to do yourself. We never replace heat sinks, but we open up the case (with a hack saw on the opposite side of the connector).

Thats where they normally break. Saw the case open at that point, soldier the board, glue case back together.

About a 95% success rate.

Don't take the cover off.

Cut the cover off with a hack saw. Hmm I wish I had a picture of the one we referance at work.

There is the connector. On the OPPOSITE side of the connector, you want to cut there. You want to cut it the same Direction the connector runs

You want to be able to see the back side of the entire connector.

98% of the failures, are where the connectors attach to the board.

I'll try and find a picture.

I just my die grinder or cut off wheel. I've only been able to pry one open sucessfully. Closing them up again is just silicone. Check the corners of the board where its not supported as much, seems that the vibration will crack the soulder
